Operational Excellence Specialist

The Operational Excellence Specialist is responsible for driving a culture of continuous improvement throughout the Operations group. This role leads improvement initiatives by combining operational excellence principles with data-driven solutions and comprehensive training to ensure sustainable process improvements. The specialist will work with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts to design, implement, and control lean systems while implementing robust standardized training and developing talent. They will be responsible for training, mentoring, and coaching employees on the operational excellence principles, processes, and tools, with a focus on driving employee engagement, safety, quality, and productivity improvements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent may be asked to perform other function-related activities in addition to the below mentioned responsibilities as reasonably required by business needs. 

Leads the development, deployment, sustainment, and continuous improvement of operational excellence systems, including continuous improvement systems and daily management processes, visual management standards, 5S workplace organization, and tier metrics to drive and embed a culture of operational excellence Facilitates kaizen/improvement events and develops internal kaizen facilitators, establishing and monitoring metrics for sustaining continuous improvement initiatives  Maintains and analyzes operating system metrics, conducting trend analyses and developing action plans to reach and exceed organizational goals  Provides comprehensive training and coaching on Lean Six Sigma tools and processes to the team and leaders, ensuring consistent application of methodologies  Identifies, develops, and empowers continuous improvement champions across the organization, providing mentorship and growth opportunities to build a sustainable culture of operational excellence Conducts regular assessments of both lean implementation and effectiveness, maintaining comprehensive metrics to measure impacts on quality, safety, and productivity  Leads complex, cross-functional improvement projects using project management methodologies, including defining scope, creating project charters, managing timelines, and tracking deliverables  Develops and delivers effective communications across multiple platforms (written, visual, and verbal) to engage stakeholders, share initiative progress, and promote successful outcomes throughout the organization Utilizes advanced data analytics tools and statistical methods to identify improvement opportunities, analyze root causes, and measure project success, creating visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings effectively Seeks out and implements industry best practices through benchmarking activities, introducing innovative solutions to enhance operational performance 

Required Education and Experience            

Bachelor's preferred, with 5 - 8 years of relevant experience  in lean manufacturing or operational excellence  Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher preferred) Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing training programs Strong knowledge of lean methodologies and tools (5S, Kaizen, Visual Management) Excellent facilitation and presentation skills Proven ability to communicate effectively across multiple platforms (written, visual, verbal) with all levels of the organization Demonstrated success in leading continuous improvement initiatives Proven ability to develop and track performance metrics Strong project management skills with experience leading cross-functional teams Proficiency in data analysis tools (such as Excel, Power BI, or similar) and statistical methods Experience creating data visualizations and performance dashboards Strong organizational and time management skills Advanced GMP and safety knowledge

The annualized base salary range for this role is $78,700 to $123,000 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs, and market demand.
