The Operational Lead Radiation Oncology is responsible for planning, coordinating, directing and evaluating daily operational activities and guiding the department based team to deliver care to radiation oncology patients.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Responsible for coordinating daily operations of assigned. Manages daily operations within budget parameters. Organizes, coordinates and prioritizes patient care consistently utilizing available resources.
+ Prioritizes and coordinates patient flow activity at the campus in coordination with the physician(s) and RN(s) at the site. Anticipates staffing needs, handles changes (i.e. add-ons, emergencies), plans and implements daily management of patient schedule in order to assure a smooth patient flow.
+ Demonstrates ability to meet requirements of job description and functions successfully in role of staff Radiation Therapist delivering radiation treatments and related services to patients. Demonstrates a consistent high level of performance and productivity.
+ Ensure the delivery of quality, safe, patient focused care.
+ Demonstrates ability to function as a resource person, providing support and guidance to therapist/treatment staff.
+ Functions as a role model in behavior engaging staff in team work and supporting a culture of safety through actions and verbalization of safety concerns. Responsible for maintaining clinical practice standards, utilizing and promoting evidence based practice and guiding the treatment team at the assigned site.
+ Identifies educational needs of the staff and provides input in to staff evaluations. Provides information on employee performance issue to the Manger of Treatment Operations.
+ Addresses equipment malfunctioning at site and problem solves to correct problem.
+ Works collaboratively with Manager of Treatment Operations ensuring appropriate supplies, equipment and staffing are available for treatments and procedures.
+ Assists in the development of clinical protocols, policies and procedures as it relates to radiation oncology treatments and procedures.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Frequent use of fingers to operate therapeutic equipment. Walking for up to 8 hours per day, in 10 minute increments. Frequent use of hands for chart handling and writing. Twisting and turning of hands to operate equipment. Pushing, pulling and lifting patients up to 300 pounds with assistance. Frequently stoops and bends. Occasional squatting. Often reaches above shoulder level. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as it relates to normal vision.
EDUCATION:
ARRT registered certification in Radiation Therapy. Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. Continued education by attending seminars, workshops, and continuing education programs.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Two to five years experience as a staff Radiation Therapist preferred. Experience with Varian equipment and other types of Radiation Oncology technology. Computer skills required.
