Operational Resilience - Business Continuity Manager, First line of Defense

Role/Department

The First Line of Defense(1LOD) Operational Resilience Business Continuity Management (BCM) Team Manager will support the Operational Resilience Central Team and Practice Lead in the coordination of Business Continuity Management across Business Units and Corporate Functions, and develop / implement Northern Trust’s Operational Resilience Framework and policies relevant to BCM. This will improve the Firm’s resilience and enable the Firm to plan for and respond to significant business disruption and implement actions to mitigate foreseeable adverse impact.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

Support in analyzing business continuity requirements and development of robust recovery strategies in relation to the prioritization of service continuity.

Support the implementation and embeddedness of the Operational Resilience framework / Business Continuity requirements across Business Units and Corporate Functions.

Develop and maintain Operational Resiliency plans that facilitate the recovery of key resources, people, processes, technology, facilities and vendors.

Understand business exposures and potential business impacts.

Report on Business Continuity Risks.

Provide management reporting regarding recovery capabilities and remediation activities.

Work with the Non-Financial Risk function and Business Continuity stakeholders to develop and maintain Business Continuity strategies, policies, and standards.

Identify and solve complex, operational problems leveraging the appropriate resources within or outside the Operational Resiliency department.

Remain current on regulatory requirements, internal policies and controls related to operational resilience and business continuity.

Skills/Experience

The successful candidate will benefit from having:

Substantial experience in Business Continuity Management / Operational Resiliency

Manages related teams, sets team priorities, and allocates resources to align with business objectives

Working knowledge of the appropriate standards and regulations e.g., ISO22301 and FCA/PRA/FFIEC/BoE and other country regulator’s publications in relation to Business Continuity Management / Operational Resilience

Working knowledge and understanding of Business continuity Management technology tools, specifically in relation to Fusion

Management skills; proven stakeholder engagement experience, engaging and inclusive management style, with experience of having managed Business Continuity / Operational Resilience /  Incident Management / operational processes / risk management initiatives.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functions to achieve measurable results
