Operational Risk, Vice President

Who we are looking for

The Operational Risk Management Vice President will provide risk management oversight to the Investment Services (IS) business North America while working closely with global peers to overall support IS worldwide. The position sits within the 2nd line of defense.  

Position will assist in overseeing the operational risk framework execution in the business to ensure  identification, measurement, control analysis, reporting and escalations are effective for Investor Services.  The position will partner with the business with a purpose of ensuring that the First Line of Defense effectively and optimally manage operational risk in line with risk appetite.

Major Responsibilities

Provide direction, support and oversight to responsible business units, specifically Institutional Services (IS), with respect to State Street’s risk management policies, procedures and guidelines. Facilitates and collaborates with ERM and other colleagues to implement the ongoing development of a sound risk management framework and support of a global governance program.Risk Framework includes the identification, measurement, control and management of IS business risks.  Utilization of available risk management tools (NBPRA, OKRI, Loss and Data Incident Event Review) and independent risk assessment analysis.Support communication, trends, insights, emerging risks, key issues and information to IS Risk Committees and across the three lines of defense.Assist with the execution and oversight of IS Operational Risk Programs (e.g. RCSA, MRI, KRI's, operational incident capture and management).Provide risk reporting to the relevant businesses, committees and legal entity boards as required.Analyze risks and recommend appropriate internal control improvements.  Independently manage projects designed to improve risk management strategies.Investigate and assess operational losses; analyze root causes and trends.Prepare risk reporting suitable for executive management review which highlights key exposures, areas of focus while meeting regulatory requirements.  Monitor business changes and advise senior management of risk mitigation strategies.  May act as a liaison with regulatory agencies, internal and external advisors and other internal control groups on risk related issues.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.6+ years risk experience and experience in the subject matter relevant to the business unit.Proven interpersonal and communication skills.Strong, organization, project management and leadership skills.Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong decision-making skills.Strong computer skills.Team player.Ability to negotiate, influence and build consensus.Ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships within the business unit and across the corporation

Salary Range:

$100.000 - $167.500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
