Operations Analyst, Enhanced Middle Office (OTC / Derivatives)

The Investment Manager Services Unit (IMS) is growing rapidly and is seeking new members on our Enhanced Middle Office Team supporting derivative products. Our primary goal is to provide exceptional middle office services for institutional money managers.  As an OTC Operations Analyst, you will be responsible for OTC trade confirmations, payments, and collateral management.  You will interface directly with our client’s trading/middle office staff and represent our clients when working with major Wall Street brokers to facilitate money movements.

What you will do:

›     Product coverage will center on swaps (interest rate, credit default, equity total return), futures, and OTC options. When our clients execute derivative trades, the Analyst will work to ensure that these trades are captured correctly in SEI’s portfolio accounting system, Advent Geneva, and promptly confirmed on confirmation/middleware platforms. 

›     The Analyst will monitor and process lifecycle events such as interest rate swap resets, credit default swap coupons, equity swap resets, and credit events.   The Analyst will ensure that these events are (1) accurately reflected in the portfolio accounting system (2) agreed with the OTC counterparty and (3) Instructed at our client’s custodian bank or prime broker.

›     The Analyst will ensure that our client’s OTC derivative positions are properly collateralized by initiating and communicating margin calls on behalf of our clients as well as responding to incoming collateral requests from various Wall Street brokers.

›     The Analyst will typically interact directly with our client’s Trader or Middle Office Staff to resolve issues surrounding trade capture and collateral management.  The Analyst will also work closely with the major Wall Street brokers to agree money movements relating to collateral and OTC settlements.  When necessary, the Analyst will work with various internal SEI teams (Accounting, Security Master Setup,Technology) to support our clients.

›     The Analyst will review various daily reconciliations to ensure that accurate OTC data is accurately maintained at SEI and at our Client’s counterparties

›     The Analyst may be asked to participate in the new client onboarding process or the build-out/enhancement of current infrastructure, and may be asked to support release management process through testing new functionality or patches

What we need from you:

›        Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Math or 4 years of equivalent experience.

›        Internship or one year of professional experience preferred.

›        Prior experience with derivatives is a plus, but not a requirement. Candidates must be interested in the constantly evolving world of derivatives and driven to master the myriad complexities involved in this challenging and interesting asset class.  This is an ideal position for a motivated individual to gain direct hands-on experience with a wide variety of derivative products

Experience with any of the following is a plus:

o   Buy-side investment management with derivatives

o   OTC Collateral Management Platforms such as Lombard Risk Colline or other

o   Derivative processing platforms such as Calypso, Summit, Murex, etc.

o   OTC Confirmation platforms such as Markit Trade Manager, DS Match, MarkitWire, and ICE Link

o   Advent Geneva

›        Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word

›        The self-motivation and drive to monitor multiple client deliverables without sacrificing excellence or quality.

›        Strong written and verbal communication skills as you will primarily support your clients through email and/or phone calls.

›        Ability to work independently and with others in an effective and professional manner

›        Ability to interact and build effective working relationships with peers and management

›        Excellent analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills

›        Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills

›        Ability to analyze issues quickly and independently and take appropriate action under tight time constraints

›        Ability to identify and resolve/escalate problems

›        Must be willing to work in an open floor environment
