Job Summary Creates processes and tools to quantify and manage economics and financial risk of WEC Energy Group utility and WEC Infrastructure portfolio market results. Has a primary role in the execution and determination of Auction Revenue Rights (ARR) allocation, and acquiring and selling of Financial Transmission Rights (FTR). Applies quantitative analysis skills and power system operations knowledge to support new market operation, compliance, and financial risk management strategies. Job Responsibilities + Responsible for execution of utility portfolio Auction Revenue Rights and Financial Transmission Rights processes including receiving internal approvals and submission to MISO. + Support recommended strategies in ARR/FTRs in utility portfolio decision-making and strategy selection + Be key contributor in developing market analytics to support company’s energy transition to increased solar, wind, and battery storage + Support existing processes and tools to quantify market risks and opportunities, assist in the development of mitigation strategies, and measure strategy and operational performance. + Remain current on the MISO tariff (both existing and contemplated) and identify value-creating strategies within the MISO market framework. + Support Power Operations to identify opportunities to optimize the economic outcome of the generation offers and load bids. + Support development of strategies with affected parties and forecast operational and financial impacts of strategies. + Function as a contributor on cross-functional teams. + Review for reasonableness ARR/FTR/TCR proposals from WEC Infrastructure project Energy Service Providers. + Support interactions with MISO Independent Market Monitor, including updates to the IMM’s Operating Cost Survey and coordinating responses to IMM inquiries that may be received from time to time. + Support review of WEC Infrastructure financial results, support Finance department reporting of WEC Infrastructure project activities, support evaluation of WEC Infrastructure transactions This is a job family posting (Operations Analyst, Senior Operations Analyst) where experience will be the determining factor. Minimum Qualifications + A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Data Science or related field is required. In lieu of a degree requirement, consideration may be given to candidates with at least 2 years of electric wholesale market operations experience. + 2-5 years of experience in the energy or utility industry + High proficiency with analytical software (e.g. Excel, Power BI, databases, web-based applications). + Knowledge of the regional transmission system, LMP markets, power flow simulation, and/or regional generation resources is required. + Demonstrated success in modeling the Business Success Competencies of Personal Responsibility for Results, Sense of Urgency, Customer Focus, and Financial Discipline. + Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication and negotiating skills. + A demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships. + An acute attention to detail is required. + Must enjoy a fast paced, continuously changing work environment and have the ability to deal with stressful situations in an effective way and make quick decisions based on limited information. Preferred Qualifications + Experience in MISO ARR/FTR processes End Date: 12/13/2024 Pay Range Minimum: $85,896.20 Pay Range Maximum: $148,170.62 The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs.
