Our Operations team is essential to delivering the innovative and life-saving products we make for our customers. Area Leader is a leadership role focused on building fully engaged and competent teams that deliver results in line with the area performance goals in a safe and efficient way.  The Area Leader will be responsible for 33 direct reports including bargained and non-bargained operations personnel and technical staff for our DVB and Copolymer production facilities within the Dow Michigan Operations industrial park located in Midland, Michigan.  The Area Leader is accountable for all facets of operations including safety, quality and production and will be a key enabler for driving continuous improvement, productivity and a plant culture aligned with Dupont’s core values.


Your key responsibilities:

Embraces and role models DuPont Core Values of Safety and Health, Respect for People, Highest Ethical Behavior and Protecting the Planet.Communicates performance goals, metrics and outcomes within area to meet production goals and the customers’ needs safely and efficiently.Promotes commitment and ownership to Operational Excellence by engaging team members to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, eliminate waste and remove barriers; Uses lean and digital tools effectively.Hires, retains and develops talent to meet current and future capabilities; Promotes a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment.Coaches, develops, and provides regular performance feedback to team members to build capabilities, align on expectations and overall team effectiveness; Uses reward and recognition to drive the right behaviors and results.Partners with leaders to stay informed of the business strategy and needs; Pivots as needed to deliver business value.Organizes area resources to drive performance; Completes administrative requirements timely and efficiently.Knows the site/unit/area products, our customers and their requirements​.Uses business knowledge and cost modeling tools to build cases and evaluate needs/opportunities.Primary sponsor of area Operational Discipline including procedure use, management systems, training, etc.Interprets and applies basic engineering principles.Solves simple and complex technical problems while balancing speed/risk/reward.Creates an environment of accountability for meeting agreed-upon expectations​.Uses management systems to monitor the organization’s performance against goals.Energizes the organization by clarifying the broader purpose and importance of the work​.Works with peers on site to leverage and optimize shared resources.Maintains a close partnership with Maintenance and Reliability and Quality/Analytical leadership on site to improve processes and deliver plant performance results.

Qualifications:

5+ years relevant experience Influential People leadership Lean Six Sigma methodologies Digitally enabled tools and systemsBS, Sciences, Engineering, Supply Chain  preferredSix Sigma/Lean Practitioner, preferred
