Job Description
Candidates will work in a 3rd party food testing company. The Operations Assistant role is the first step in the process. These individuals are focused specifically on front-end operations regarding package receipt, general sample handling techniques, project sorting (triage activities), etc.
ResponsibilitiesTriage: Work with a conveyor system to open boxes and confirm the accuracy of invoices against the contents of the box. Troubleshoot issues such as missing samples, incorrect samples, or broken containers. Communicate with a CSR to follow up with clients.Sort samples: After samples have been triaged, organize them by priority and move them to Sample Entry for database entry.Move samples: After Sample Entry enters samples, move them to the appropriate location, either to Sample Prep for processing into liquid/powder form or directly to the lab freezers.Paperwork: Scan samples into the database.Labeling: Assist with labeling samples and creating labels when necessary.Essential SkillsLab assistant experienceSample preparationSolution preparationKnowledge in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, environmental science, or zoologyExperience as a sample coordinatorHigh school diplomaData entryCustomer serviceLogisticsAdditional Skills & QualificationsFood service/production experienceAbility to lift 40-50 lbsAttention to detailComfortable working independentlyReliability (all verified through references)Work Environment
Will be working in the triage area with a new conveyor system. The environment is fast-paced and can be viewed like production work as tests must be completed according to client timeframes. The work can be repetitive depending on the group you are a part of, but there is significant growth potential. The Sample Prep team consists of 12-15 employees on the 1st and 2nd shifts. Candidates will be standing for the majority of the day (90%+). Flexibility to average 5 hours of overtime per week based on workload is required. The lab uses a variety of instrumentation, including UPLC, HPLC, GC, and LCMS technologies. Education reimbursement is available up to $5,000 per calendar year for tuition, registration, and laboratory fees for courses relevant to the current position or immediate advancement.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr.
