Operations Assistant (Security), NF-02/RPL
Summary About the position: This position is located in the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort, an AFRC Facility in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavarian Alps, Germany. The purpose of this position is to perform a wide variety of tasks as an Operations Assistant (Security) in the hotel's Security Department. Responsibilities Serves as an Operations Assistant with the primary responsibility for maintaining order and harmony among patrons, and securing the facilities and grounds at an Armed Forces Recreation Center (AFRC) located on a military installation. Monitors operations to ensure the smooth running of AFRC Edelweiss Lodge & Resort throughout the day and adherence to established schedules of activities and priorities. Respond to medical emergencies and perform needed first aid, including CPR and the use of an AED. Know how to respond to and correct problems (if required) with the fire alarm system and when to contact maintenance personnel for immediate service. Be able to program, interrogate door locks, and make keys for employees, contractors and guests on an RFID lock system. Know how to operate a key-watcher system. Correct issues/problems with in-room guest safes. Respond to disturbances and be able to determine if local law enforcement must be contacted. Know, understand, and enforce evacuation, force protection, safety and security plans, policies, and procedures. Alert and direct first responders during emergencies. Take a statement from a guest or employee, write incident/information reports, attach required material, and forward it to responsible resort departments as required. Perform security at designated areas and patrol resort grounds. Regularly check gates, doors, buildings, and equipment, ensuring safety and security. Maintain resort keys and issued them to employees and contractors as required. Escort personnel within the resort as needed. Maintain a log of authorized visitors. Perform vehicle inspections when required. Perform customer service work that contributes toward the well-being of our guests and employees, which includes checking ID cards of persons entering the resort and providing directions. Use tact and diplomacy to deny entrance to unauthorized personnel or to remove those not adhering to the resort's policies. Ensure compliance with fire, safety, and security standards. Be familiar with the calendar of events in order to inform guests/patrons of scheduled events. Maintain assigned area in a clean and orderly manner. Report all maintenance issues immediately to a supervisor or maintenance department for repair. Requirements Conditions of Employment QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Related experience as described above. Previous security experience preferred. Must possess excellent Customer Service skills. Be able to read, understand, and follow safety and security plans, policies, and procedures. Must be able to speak English clearly to give directions and explain policy. Must be able to operate and use various safety and other electronic and automated equipment (fire alarm, CCTV, radios, computers, etc.). The ability to work a rotating schedule that may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Experience or knowledge of Microsoft Office software. A valid driver's license is required and requires the incumbent to drive and operate a motor vehicle. Must have or be able to obtain current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED training certification. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks as required by AR 215-3, 2-15.j., to include a Tier 1 investigation. Qualifications Work experience performing similar duties. Education Education: High School graduate. Must possess the ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. Additional Information This is a limited tenure position not to exceed 15 months. It is an unaccompanied program because we cannot provide logistical support to family members. Dorm-style housing is provided in lieu of a living quarters allowance. Transportation to and from Germany is provided in accordance with the terms of the Joint Travel Regulation and the executed transportation agreement. Military spouses and family members currently residing within the Garmisch Military Community who apply under this announcement will be considered for a regular appointment. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. All Federal NAF employees are required by PL 104-134 to have salary payments made by electronic funds transfer/direct deposit. A probationary period may be required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from hiring preferences and priority consideration eligibility. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the government's interest. LQA is not authorized. This is a Nonappropriated Fund (NAF) position carrying out Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) activities for the Army.
