Operations Associate Director: Upstream Lead
Job Description SummaryAs the Operations Associate Director: Upstream Lead, you will be a key leader of the Operations Leadership Team & Extended site leadership team on site. On this team, you will provide leadership for Upstream Operations at the Cork site, delivering both strategic and operational goals. Your role is to provide both vision and performance delivery, with a balanced focus between the day-to-day and the medium to longer term direction for the site.

You are specifically responsible for managing and providing strategic and operational leadership to your Value Stream, reporting to the Operations Director. You will partner closely with the Associate Director Operations Lead for Downstream processes at the Cork Site to deliver the customer and business needs in a timely & compliant manner.

You will be a servant leader who enhances the direct relationship culture in your area. As the Upstream Lead you will engage with the relevant support departments, build strong relationships with same and lead with a cross functional mindset.

You hold senior management level accountability for the performance of Upstream Operations, across a balanced scorecard of operational delivery metrics, efficiency and performance metrics, improvement metrics, capability and culture indicators and the delivery of strategic goals. You achieve this through others, providing them with vision and direction, and creating an environment in which all colleagues can actively contribute towards site success.

Job DescriptionResponsibilities

Compliance

Your primary responsibilities are to your colleagues and customers. Safety and Quality are non-negotiable in the execution of your duties.

You are responsible for compliance to the requirements of cGMP, and to our site Quality programmes.

Team leadership and capability development

You will be always a Role model and display GEHC Values and Leadership standards through your interactions and interpersonal relations with all colleagues and other stakeholders. You will ensure continuous performance feedback is maintained for all Direct Reports.

You will participate in the selection and recruitment of team members.

You will provide training and development feedback and agree on training and development plans for your Direct Reports. Coach and mentor, on achievement of their training and development plans.

You will ensure that all aspects of GEHC Cork Human Resource Management policies are complied with.

You will create a high performance, high support engagement environment

Delivery & Cost

You will Work with the Associate Director Downstream Lead in planning and scheduling labour and equipment resources to meet the full Value Stream demands and future manufacturing needs.

You will identify methods for improving productivity and reducing overall costs via Lean manufacturing and robust problem-solving teams.

You will deliver Environmental, Health & Safety performance in accordance with the requirements of the company’s 5S, safety and environmental management programmes.

You will liaise with Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Engineering departments on product and process development matters, New Product Introduction and trials.

Strategy

You will work with the Operational Leadership Team and corporate colleagues to develop appropriate site strategies to position the site successfully within the overall division and corporate strategy.

With the Operational Leadership team, you play a key role in creating a high-performance culture delivering results with high support and a focus on direct engagement at all levels within your team. You will be responsible for developing & growing your teams, empowering your team to run their areas of the business. The high-performance culture will be respectful of the needs of all stakeholders and differentiating Pharmaceutical Diagnostics (PDx) business and the Cork site with respect to all competitors.

Authority & Influence

You will play a full and active role in the Operational Leadership Team & Extended leadership team to deliver on all KPI’s & operational delivery goals within the vertical supply chain. You will provide cross-functional leadership in support of all the functions and departments on site.  You will be part of setting and implementing an overall site strategy to develop the “factory of the future” capable of enabling the transformation strategy.

Performance

You will set high standards with a lean operating mindset for continuous improvement. You will lead with a coaching & mentoring style promoting a supportive environment for teams to deliver & exceed on key business deliverables across safety, quality, service, new product introductions  & cost. You will have responsibility for Preparation, Filling & Autoclaving.

Qualifications and Requirement

You possess the curiosity of a life-long learner. You have achieved at least a Professional Level 9 Masters degree qualification. You may be an exception and not yet have achieved a Level 9 degree. In that case, we may appoint you and support you to achieve a Level 9-degree qualification (or higher) while working in the role

You have achieved a recognised Coaching qualification or can demonstrate experience in Coaching teams and use the tools, skills and techniques as your default style of leading / managing.

You display both strategic and operational mindsets with a capability to operate between both depending on context and requirement.

You have experience of managing teams in a fast-paced and complex environment using LEAN mindset, principles and resources.

You are a confident decision maker, an effective planner, and an effective communicator.

You are likely to have significant experience in working, developing strong working relationships and influencing cross-functionally
