The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).
Job Summary
The Operations Automation Specialist leads and participates in the design, development, implementation and troubleshooting of automated industrial manufacturing systems.

This position is located in East Peoria, IL and does not offer relocation
15% or less travel is expected with this role
What You Will Do
Leading projects to deploy automated systems; providing subject matter expertise for programming, debugging and troubleshooting robotic and automated systems
Serving as subject matter expert for automated system applications; maintains the standards and documentation for automated system applications
Participating in identifying and implementing enhancements and modifications to existing equipment and processes
Providing engineering support on planning, development, operation, and maintenance of equipment, processes, or facilities
Providing technical expertise and guidance in major manufacturing projects, working with internal/external suppliers to support/improve manufacturing productivity and cost effectiveness
Implementing major systems and the coordination of those systems with the total plant
Championing and leading the modernization of assembly, components and logistics manufacturing process through automated process development and improved manufacturing controls
Communicating with suppliers to analyze their current or proposed product/process designs to determine feasibility of using existing designs or modifying the designs to improve process and/or product
Improving space utilization in manufacturing spaces
Creating and maintaining value stream maps, SFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Operational documentation
Developing and implementing processes in line with Caterpillar standard processes
Evaluating projects and prepare feasibility studies to define desired results, assess value proposition and determine project plans
Implementing automated material storage solutions and AGV’s into an existing production environment
What You Have
Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Vendor/Supplier Management: Knowledge of external provider management processes and ability to effectively manage the business relationship with external providers (e.g., vendors, service providers, contractors, consultants, and suppliers).
Knowledge of Robotics: Knowledge of designing, programming, and operating robots for various applications; ability to utilize programming languages and robotics knowledge to automate the necessary operations of the organization.
Industrial Automation/Automatic Control: Knowledge of various industrial automatic control systems, processes and methodologies in a manufacturing environment; ability to design, implement and maintain automatic production systems/processes to improve productivity and efficiency, as well as minimize human intervention.
Operations Standards, Procedures and Policies: Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.
What Will Set You Apart
Bachelor’s degree in electrical, manufacturing, mechanical engineering or related field
Project Administration: Knowledge of project administration best practices and ability to use organizational strategies, practices and tools for administering projects. Past project management experience
Quality Management: Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization
Experience integrating robots such as, FANUC, ABB and/or KUKA, into assembly or machine tending type processes / systems.
Certified RMF (Robotics in Manufacturing Fundamentals) through SME (Society of Manufacturing Engineers)
Experience integrating AGV’s, automating material flow / storage
Experience integrating cobots
SAP, CAD, Microsoft Office
Experience reading, writing, modifying PLC logic

Summary Pay Range:
$95,640.00 - $143,520.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
