The Operations Controller plays a key role within both operations and finance organizations. The position is responsible for partnership with executive business group leadership to drive comprehensive understanding of cost performance and planning at multiple domestic manufacturing facilities.
This role will have direct report(s) at other locations. This will include hiring, training, and helping them develop the skills needed to support a manufacturing site. This role will drive forecasted cost modeling allowing for strategic planning on capacity, make vs buy scenarios, and manufacturing footprint alignment. The role will also work closely with other plants to identify and implement Continuous Improvement opportunities. The role will be both a strategic thinker and an individual tactical contributor comfortable with influencing and educating multiple levels within the organization to achieve results. The role is a key partner with each plant operations manager, driving performance review and delivering recommendations for cost optimization strategies.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
Provides comprehensive financial support for Plants and FP&A activities, including, but not limited to, financial modeling/analysis, variance reporting, capital support, consolidation of Business Group Reporting, KPI’s and long-range planning.Develops insightful analytics to understand, budget/forecast, and influence financial decisions with business partners.Coordinates among global stakeholders the consolidation of financial reporting and planning activities to support: 1) internal financial management reporting, 2) internal business management reporting, 3) internal and external audit completion, and 3) quarterly earnings release and reporting.Utilizes data mining techniques to research, model, and generate “what if” scenarios on facilities, production transfers, and component make / buy decisions.Actively participate in Finance continuous improvement, being open and willing to think differently, share and influence new ideas for eliminating and/or modernizing work, and become an advocate for change in the broader organization.Cultivates finance/business relationships, which includes learning the business, responding to evolving priorities and understanding the impacts of decisions on key stakeholders.Designs and directs the work of the team. Selects, coaches, and develops staff. Sets clear expectations to inspire and motivate the team. Manages performance, recognizing achievement, providing feedback and administering progressive discipline when necessary.Other Duties as assigned and the following: Build and maintain forecasted labor and overhead rates to be used in strategic planning. Identify issues with system transactions creating variances and work with Operations team to implement corrective actions.Minimum Qualifications:
