Operations Coordinator
JOB TITLE: Operations Coordinator COMPANY: SMG DEPARTMENT: Operations FACILITY: Mohegan Arena @ Casey Plaza REPORTS TO: Operations Manager FLSA: Hourly/Non-Exempt POSITION SUMMARY: This position helps to maintain the Mohegan Arena’s facilities in an efficient operational manner and performs a multitude of physical tasks including the set-up and break down of the Arena as needed. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: + Fully understands the layout of the Arena for maximum usage (i.e. storage, cleaning methods, etc.) + Fully understands all aspects of the changeover and cleaning of the entire facility + Supervises and works with Operations Staff (or temporary labor) to set up and break down events (i.e. stages, risers, basketball floors, hockey dasher systems, chairs and tables, lobby areas, dressing rooms, press rooms, etc) + Supervises and works with Operations Staff (or temporary labor) to clean all areas of the facility + Surveys equipment before and after events for damage and /or disrepair, correctly documenting and following through with repair and/or replacement as needed + Possesses general knowledge of ice maintenance including correct preparation for events and build up and cut down of ice + Possesses the ability to operate building machinery such as forklift, lawn equipment, tenant floor cleaners, etc. + Possesses the ability to fully learn and operate a Zamboni Ice Re-surfacer as needed + Possesses general building trade knowledge in order to assist/perform any needed preventive maintenance and repair of the building equipment + Assists the snow crew with snow removal operations + As scheduled assists in operating the Mohegan Arena during event and non-event modes as efficiently as possible + Assists Operations Manager with safety/OSHA policies utilizing the Altum Maintenance program + Assists as needed in all areas of Operations + Performs other tasks as needed SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position supervises the Operations Staff including any temporary employees and snow removal crew. QUALIFICATIONS: + Must possess demonstrated technical knowledge of various tools and equipment and of the methods to erect and dismantle various items including chairs, risers, and stages; previous changeover experience in a similar facility is preferred + Must possess demonstrated knowledge of various cleaning methods including use of floor scrubbers + Must possess demonstrated knowledge of supervisory principles with an emphasis in working with and training part-time staff; must possess demonstrated knowledge of purchasing policies and procedures + Some education or equal experience in the Building Trades is preferred + Must possess basic computer skills to include Microsoft products such as Outlook, Word, and Excel + Must possess the ability to perform various physical tasks, including the ability to lift 50 pounds + Must possess the ability to access all areas of the Mohegan Arena + Must possess the ability to read, speak, and communicate effectively + Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays + Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job.
