The estimated base salary range for this role is “$110,000 to $140,000” per year.

Reporting to the Director, AS Operations Excellence, the AS Process Improvement Manager helps lead Architectural Specialties in its multi-year journey to operations excellence. The incumbent partners with business and plant management teams and other resources in identifying improvement opportunities and leads, manages, and executes projects from conception through to completion. This is a highly visible role, driving business changes and Safety, Quality, Service and Cost reduction/plant optimization activities.

The incumbent has an opportunity to transform business and manufacturing operations through firsthand effort, and work with respective leaders that have a passion for helping people accept the charter for change and transform the business. The role has multi-project and multi-site responsibility based on business need. Work includes project/initiative management as well as ownership, development, and utilization of continuous improvement methodologies. The incumbent works in a highly visible position with exposure to senior leaders, and various parts of the organization, and could develop a solid Lean and PI skill set.

What will you do?

Leads and develops continuous improvement roadmaps and methodologies, manufacturing systems, and drives their use in the organization. Works with business teams and leaders to identify and scope new improvement opportunities and assists in sequencing and tracking. Builds and maintains the foundation for continuous improvement by ensuring the effective use of transformation activities. Trains other continuous improvement stakeholders in a variety of process improvement tools and techniques. Drives quality and enhancement of quality systems Develops and delivers Project & Program presentations to all levels of management. Assists the business to identify, realize, and track the business and economic benefit of a project. Supports process owners to clearly track and report on project metrics and benefits to be achieved. Leads, facilitates, and executes simple (single department) to complex (across functions) initiatives or events using Lean, Six Sigma, DFSS, and other process improvement methodologies to deliver specific business results, using solid project management principles. Leverages company sites through benchmarking, best practice sharing, and transfer of kaizen activities. Integrates maintenance and reliability methodologies throughout organization. Provides regular activity reports to plant/business managers and leadership. Drives productivity improvements, creates appropriate productivity metrics and dashboards, and provides hand-on support to ensure success. Assists with and supports the implementation of SAP throughout the AS businesses. Creates ‘continual improvement’ mindset through mentoring plant leaders and supporting a lean culture in our facilities.

 

Travel:  Moderate, approximately 25%

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in operations management, engineering or equivalent field of study Completion of Lean or Six Sigma training from an "academy" organization - either through direct consulting experience (i.e., Shingijutsu, TBM) or via organizations with well-established lean operating systems (Toyota, Danaher). 7+ years as a senior operations leader (i.e., business unit leader or production manager). 5+ years’ experience managing professionals. 7+ years of experience in Lean, Six Sigma or process improvement and driving Lean manufacturing initiatives in complex manufacturing facilities.

What will make you successful?

Strong change management and project management skills.  Personal experience in leading multiple Kaizen events.  Proven success designing and meeting KPI goals, including reducing supply chain costs, improving through-put, shortening cycle time, and improving inventory turns.  Demonstrated strong facilitation skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams. Exceptional Communications Skills, both orally and written. The demonstrated ability to take complex concepts and communicate them simply and succinctly. The demonstrated ability to tailor a message to a specific audience. Demonstrated ability to thrive in a complex team environment, to include matrix leadership. Ability to lead both up and down in an organization. Ability to establish relationships and influence Senior Leaders/Executives. Results oriented with strong integration skills; ability to work across organizational lines and achieve business objectives through personal initiative and energy. Effective interactive skills with all levels of the organization to address conflicts, resolve upset conditions, and facilitate behavioral change. Ability and desire to continue to learn Lean methodology and employ those skills across the value stream.
