To learn OD operations and culture while learning safe and effective ways to load and unload freight and complete several projects throughout the internship, eventually “filling-in” for the operations supervisor during the last few weeks of the program
Primary Responsibilities
Learn dock operations by shadowing team members and various supervisors and managers at the location Learn to effectively and safely operate a forklift Assist in securing freight inside trailers, learning appropriate tools and suppliesParticipate in monitoring the daily safety of each employeeLearn and participate in evaluating and teaching safe lifting techniquesLearn proper loading and unloading techniques and ensure complianceLearn the service center operations and make suggestions for improvementsLearn DOT and OSHA regulations and ensure complianceLearn to effectively use computer/internal freight monitoring systemsDevelop an understanding of various forms such as shipping orders, city stripping manifests, freight bills, overage/damage movement reports and exception formsSuccessfully complete projects as assignedJob Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent, currently attending collegeExperience:
Willingness to learn operations and complete assigned projectsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsGreat interpersonal skills with a positive attitudeWorking Days:
