Opportunity Summary
The Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the plant operates safely, efficiently, and meets its generation requirements. Responsibilities include assisting with assigned maintenance tasks and inspecting and servicing the gas and steam turbine generators, heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), mechanical and electrical auxiliaries, and other plant equipment. Additionally, the O&M Technician continuously monitors the status of all plant systems and carries out start up and shutdown procedures as needed.
Primary Duties
Perform all station shift operation and maintenance, including start up and shutdown of main plant components and auxiliaries Operate control panels to regulate plant auxiliary equipment Conduct routine tours of the plant to inspect equipment; provide feedback to the Operations Manager and to other employees as directed Comply with all site safety and environmental requirements and procedures. Identify safety and environmental hazards and take corrective actions as necessary. Maintain accuracy of shift operating logs, records, timesheets, work orders and other administrative documents related to the power plant Perform in all plant switching and tagging of equipment in accordance with approved procedures and prudent operations and maintenance practices Perform electrical and mechanical inspections, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks under direction of management as required; take ownership of assigned equipment Read and record gauges and meters. Perform routine operational tests and adjustments on all power plant systems and components as required. Assist with the development and revision of operations and maintenance related procedures Perform and maintain housekeeping standards and duties Perform routine preventive and predictive maintenance on all systems and equipment, support corrective maintenance efforts on selected equipment Perform other duties necessary to fulfill plant requirements Assist other team members and work with all departments to support Facility in achieving goalsNAES Safe

Working Relationships
The O&M Technician reports to the Operations Manager. The O&M Technician may also give direction to maintenance personnel on matters pertaining to plant operations.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Physical requirements include standing for extended periods of time, stair and ladder climbing and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and high voltage protective equipment, etc.). Work with hazardous materials may be required. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
Fitness for Duty
All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening.
Work Schedule
This position requires working 12-hour rotating shifts. Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, workload and plant conditions. "On call" status will periodically be required. Some travel may be involved to participate in Manager, Owner, User Group, or other offsite meetings.
Compensation
The initial hourly rate of pay will range from $37 to $45 per hour and will include an annual performance bonus.
Job Qualifications
Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment as would be acquired in four years of high school. Associate degree in a technical field desirable. Experience in water chemistry control, analysis of water conditions, water treatment facility operations and chemical handling requirements Experience with piping and instrument schematics and process controls desirable. Extensive working knowledge of power plant industry is desirable Must possess excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills. Experience in maintaining valves, pumps, compressors and other common balance-of-plant equipment as needed for plant operations Theoretical and practical knowledge of combustion/steam turbine operations, closed system steam generation, industrial safety, hazardous waste management and inspection/recording of plant parameters is highly desirable Ability to work well with others and be self-directed, as well as apply creative solutions to unique problems is desirable Ability to use basic hand tools, portable electric and pneumatic tools, and basic rigging equipment such as winches, hoists and slings. Ability to locate, troubleshoot, and adjust defects in mechanical equipment and/or maintain. Proficient using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS); experience with Maximo preferred Able to successfully complete the Hickory Run Energy Center operator qualification program within ninety (90) days of hire. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license at all times, ensuring it remains in good standing at all times.About NAES
