Renaissance Power, located in Carson City, Michigan, about 50 miles north of Lansing, was constructed in 2001 and features four Siemens Westinghouse 501 FD2 combustion turbines.
Opportunity Summary
The O&M Technician is responsible for the safe, efficient, and proper startup, operation, shutdown, and maintenance of combustion turbines and related support equipment, as assigned. This role requires strict adherence to all safety and environmental regulations to ensure the protection of employees and the public.
Key duties include maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical and de-energized electrical equipment, such as gas turbines, control systems, motors, pumps, and auxiliary systems. The O&M Technician operates under the supervision of the Plant Manager.
Primary Functions
Use facility operating procedures and equipment manuals to start, operate, modify, and shut down combustion turbines and auxiliary equipment, ensuring all systems function within recommended operating ranges. Read meters, gauges, or monitor automatic devices to record data such as equipment operating temperatures, vibration, operating hours, pressure, and fluid levels to verify operating conditions. Periodically inspect and monitor equipment to identify issues or maintenance needs, using technical drawings, procedures, and manuals to ensure proper operation and repairs within recommended ranges Read, understand, and comply with all environmental, regulatory, and safety policies and procedures while completing assigned tasks. Collect, prepare, and review plant data to support environmental requirements, including sampling and reporting. Actively participate in emergency response, waste minimization, and pollution prevention programs as needed. Perform duties related to handling of hazardous materials, wastes, spill prevention and incident control as directed by Facility Management and in accordance with applicable regulations. Initial orientation and annual classroom training are provided, together with on-the-job-training, to demonstrate understanding of essential information for regulatory compliance and documentation. Initiate Purchase Order requests for parts and services Keep all training requirements current, i.e. First Aid, CPR, OSHA. Use Web Based GPI Learn and other available training modules, seminars, and courses as available and offered by NAES. Ensure the plant meets the generating requirements while operating in a safe and efficient manner within environmental regulations (federal, state and local) Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) proficiently to support facility maintenance, manage work orders, ensure inventory control, and handle purchase requisitions with follow-ups as neededNAES Safe

Working Relationships
The O&M Technician reports to the Plant Manager.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Physical requirements include standing for extended periods of time, stair and ladder climbing and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and high voltage protective equipment, etc.). Work with hazardous materials may be required. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
Fitness for Duty
All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening.
Work Schedule
This position entails a 7 on / 7 off rotating schedule with 12-hour shifts, with the possibility of weekend and holiday work as required by schedules, workload and plant conditions. "On call" status will periodically be required.
Compensation
Starting compensation range is $34.00 to $54.00 per hour depending on skills and experience.
Job Qualifications
Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment as would be acquired in four years of high school. A technical, engineering or related degree desired. Power plant operational experience with a background in instrument/controls/electrical work desired Power plant maintenance experience including maintenance skills, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and predictive maintenance programs Developed instrumentation and electronic control troubleshooting and repair skills desired Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings to detect, diagnose, and repair equipment malfunctions. Experience managing and coordinating projects Excellent oral and written communication skills, essential for effective coordination with team members and management, as well as accurate reporting of maintenance activities. A strong team player with a demonstrated ability to collaborate on maintenance tasks, share insights, and supervise contractors or technicians to ensure quality and safety standards.
