Operations Manager

Department: Operations                            

Location: Mason, Ohio

 

JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for 2nd shift plant operations, including but not limited to safety, maintenance, and working with other departments to ensure consistent and efficient operation.
Assists in providing consistent, quality production throughout production lines.  This position will support all safety programs, policies and procedures. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

Develops and implements effective production, department planning, policies, and procedures.  Coordinates with Plant Management to develop goals and objectives. Participates in developing and implementing department procedures and ensures that they support Companywide strategic objectives.Exhibits expert knowledge for all positions on the production floor.Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed.   Assumes responsibility for the efficient, timely, and accurate completion of Production functions. Identifies problems and resolves them quickly and effectively. Completes related reports and records as assigned. Ensure that production functions are completed in accordance with established production, safety, and quality standards. Track operational output (i.e. efficiency, yield loss, product quality, inventory accuracy, KPI’s, transactional accuracy) anticipating and correcting trends which would compromise achievement of financial targets.Flex production plans on a shift-by-shift basis to prevent service issues and operational inefficiencies.Effectively supervises assigned personnel, ensuring optimal performance.Trains and advises employees on current daily needs and production methods.  Leads personnel to improve performance and productivity.Manage the personnel schedule and assess staffing needs. Provides leadership through goal setting, delegation, and communicationAssists with personnel decisions including performance appraisals, hiring, terminations, wage decisions and promotions. Exhibits JBS culture of respect for all employees, motivate, correct, and challenge personnel with a positive approach.Maintains effective communication, coordination, and working relations with Company personnel and management. Communicate cross-functionally to solve operational issues.Drive business changes while minimizing people impact.Maintains an open dialogue with assigned team and Plant Manager. ComplianceEnsure team compliance with all safety policies and procedures.Maintain product quality and sanitation standards.Ensure compliance with company policies, contracts and procedures.May assume other duties as assigned.

 

INFORMATION SYSTEM SKILLS
Ability to demonstrate more advanced use of computers including sound understanding of networks, Internet, and fluent in MS Office/Excel.
 

PEOPLE SKILLS                                                                                                                   Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: In-depth knowledge of customer needs. Proven experience in embracing change management and upholding a culture of continuous improvement. Highly proficient in motivating others, organization, negotiation, and communication.  Responsible to conduct yourself and ensure your subordinates conduct themselves in a manner consistent with company values, code of conduct, policies, and other standards of conduct. Adhere to and enforce policies and procedures.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university that has been accredited by the Department of Education; or two to four years related supervisory experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred experience in HCCAP, GMP, SQF, food grade manufacturing and/or meat manufacturing.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

ACTIVITIES:

 

 

Standing, walking, bending, lifting, stooping, crouching, and kneeling intermittently

HEARING:

 

Must be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

 

REPETITIVE MOTION:

 

Must be able to frequently and regularly use wrists, hands, and or fingers.

 

VISUAL ABILITIES:

 

Average, ordinary visual acuity is necessary to prepare or inspect documents, products, or operate machinery.

 

PHYSICAL STRENGTH:

Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds throughout the day.

 

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

Some of the time is spent in an office setting, majority of your time will be inside in the production plant.  The plant environment is wet, damp and cold (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts.  Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area.
