Role Overview 

The successful candidate will become part of and Manage potentially multiple teams within the core Operations function, located in the expanding Manila office, providing both regional and global support for our varied businesses, through the delivery of assigned Business As Usual (BAU) activities, project implementation and developing Subject Matter Expertise (SME).  

As a Manager, you will work closely with the functional Manager in managing and directing workflow, directly managing staff as and when required and be one of the senior points of contact as an expected SME. 

Working closely with peers and management in delivering high quality output, working collaboratively across multiple teams and departments, building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external clients.  

There will be an expectation that successful candidates will be able to work appropriate shift patterns to support the relevant region, or deliver time sensitive tasks, as necessary. 

 

Role Responsibilities 

Dependent upon the Operations Team in which you are working, your role may include, but not limited to: 

With the functional Manager, manage the workflow of the teams and be a key contact for both internal and external stakeholders 

Ensuring that the teams maintain high quality, clean data by adhering to a strict governance and controls framework  

Operating with, and ensuring all members of staff operate with a high level of skill and diligence, to complete tasks that may have regulatory, financial or reputational impact, such as client due diligence, accounts receivable, data analysis and management, Reporting etc. 

Work closely with, and representing Operations with our business and support function stakeholders on all matters related to assigned tasks to resolve queries and maintain effective and productive relationships 

To support Management on project implementation through effective testing as and when required 

Support cross functional Operations teams, and lead team specific change implementations on process workflow efficiency and automation or strategic project initiatives. 

Establish a broad level of understanding not only across multiple operations teams, but the wider environment, to help all staff to better understand the role that they play within that environment. 

Establish and maintain relationships with your peers both within Operations, but also other functions, not only in Manila, but globally, to ensure consistent delivery across common tasks, within Operations. 

Continuously enhance subject matter expertise and management skills through learning the end-to-end process and system functionalities. 

Supporting all team members to ensure that service level expectations are always met. 

Analysing, interrogating, understanding and presenting data, to achieve a defined outcome. 

Assisting with the design and implementing of processes to ensure tasks are documented and to mitigate risk exposure 

Assist with internal and external audit programs 

Assist with management information reporting and KPI tracking, and successful delivery against relevant KPIs. 

To fulfil any additional/ad-hoc duties as required to meet the needs of the business.  

 

Experience / Competences 

Essential 

Knowledge of or experience in working in the financial services sector  

Previous experience of leading small to medium sized teams (likely between 5 - 50 staff), ensuring that all expectations of the team are met. 

Be willing to “get your hands dirty” and accept that being an operations Manager means that you both manage but must be an integral part of the team. 

Experience of working within a leadership structure. 

Demonstrates excellent attention to detail, possesses high organisation skills & a proactive approach 

Demonstrates strong analytical ability and problem-solving skills

Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment 

Highly effective written & oral communication skills; adapts communication style to suit audience 

Shows evidence of being comfortable working in fast paced or pressured environments 

Skilled in the use of MS Office applications e.g, Excel, Word, PowerPoint  

  

Desired 

Demonstrable experience in core Operations tasks such as, but not limited to Client Due Diligence, KYC/AML, Accounts Receivable, Data Management, Trade Flow Management etc 

Experience of using market standard applications, i.e. ORACLE Financials/ORACLE E-Business Suite, negative media alerting systems etc. 

Experience with working with large data  

Experience with managing client queries interacting with stakeholders across multiple functions and locations, both internal and external 

Experience with working within and reporting in a KPI driven environment  

Experience with processing in a controls environment and evidence of controls process improvement. 

Experience in using good judgement and escalate where appropriate. 

Experience of working in a Corporate/large firm environment  

Experience in supporting, mentoring and training more junior members of staff, ensuring that levels of support and appropriate controls are always maintained.
