We’re hiring an Operations Manager to join our team at our manufacturing facility in Chattanooga, TN. In this role, you will oversee the full scope of manufacturing operations for our FCC additive and specialty catalyst processes, ensuring alignment with all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and standards.
As the Operations Manager, you will report directly to the Plant Manager and lead a team of 8 direct reports, supporting approximately 40 hourly/union employees.
Responsibilities Provides leadership responsibilities for all operational activities in the manufacturing units so that the units compile with all EHS policies and initiatives. Responsible for managing, monitoring, and controlling the production and quality of all the manufacturing units. Manages the engagement, performance, and development of their staff. Effectively communicates with Plant Manager by maintaining open communication about operational issues and planned resolutions. Effectively communicate with other work groups (maintenance, EHS, engineering, etc). Participates in the development of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), Updates and Forecasting and continuously review the plan compliance with respect to production, yields and fixed costs. Ensures the accurate accounting close for month end reporting. Investigates and explains manufacturing variances that deviate from production plan. Promotes Union / Management relationship and participates in various meetings concerning grievances, arbitrations, labor contract negotiations and quality of work life. Supervises the production plan and operator schedule to ensure objectives are met. Ensure accountability is being maintained with respect to all safety, quality, and work standards within team. Promotes the development of a continuous improvement culture in the manufacturing units. Required Qualifications B.S. degree in an engineering discipline, Chemical highly desirable. 10+ years' experience working in manufacturing environment, to include 5 years in management-related position. Experience as a team leader. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience driving organization improvements.Physical Requirements and Environment Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a laboratory environment with highly hazardous materials Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience working in a chemical plant. Union management experience. Experience in a leadership/management roll with experience developing others. Knowledgeable with the NFPA Dust Hazard Analysis standard.
