Job Description

The Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the daily operations, ensuring optimal outcomes, and fostering the continuous growth and development of the manufacturing team and processes.

This position is located in Simsbury, CT and will report to the Director of Operations.

Responsibilities:

Prioritize and coordinate production activities to achieve operations Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including (but not limited to) Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) metricsDemonstrated capability driving lean manufacturing principles to safely produce quality products, on-time at the lowest possible costDemonstrated capability to develop and implement a daily management system driving accountability of visual management and daily problem solving.Responsible for execution of policies and procedures utilizing lean production processes and a continuous improvement mindsetResponsible for development, training and mentoring of operations Value Stream Managers, Leads and SupervisorsTranslate company goals and objectives into actionable group/individual goalsManage department, project budgets; CAR packages; provide input into bid/proposal processResponsible for future facility, equipment, labor expansion plan, implementation and executionResponsible for daily activities being carried out on an accurate and timely basis including frequent communication and interaction with contract administrators, program managers, project engineers, buyers, receiving/inspection, material control.Partner with other Operations personnel, as well as other areas of the business as needed, to drive inventory strategy minimizing inventory costs while maintaining quality and customer delivery

Requirements:

The candidate must have a Bachelor of Science Degree or higher, preferably in an engineering discipline.Preferred minimum of 10 years hands-on operational management experience with products in a low volume, high mix aerospace environment. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams.In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, ERP systems, Kanban / Material Replenishment Systems, resource planning, and cost controlMust be able to effectively communicate with customers and with multiple levels of the organization within a team environment. Excellent verbal and written skills.   Experience with, and understanding of, military, aerospace and industry specifications and requirements. Candidates should have the ability to interpret and analyze data and determine effects on the entire product value stream.Candidates must meet all requirements under BATFE and ITAR.

Preferred Skills:

Toyota Production System knowledge and / or Kaizen Facilitation ExperienceKnowledge of and / or Experience with Energetics
