Operations Manager

Overview: The Operations Manager is responsible for Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Operations Management of assigned project work in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia. This position is located in our Elkhart IN office and will require travel to project locations, customers and other H&M offices. Responsibilities Implementation - Safety, Quality, Productivity. Day to day operations and oversight of operations staff. Technical guidance to project teams and field leadership. Lead or participate in Incident Investigations. Performance Reviews for Operations staff. Pre-job visits as necessary. Assist estimators with bids. Prepare bids or proposals when necessary. Ensure field tracking and administrative processes are implemented, reported and followed accurately and timely. Includes QA / QC processes and documentation. Manage purchase orders and subcontracts. Train Construction Managers and field Supervisors on administrative process as required. Monitor performance metrics for operating unit – production, man-hours, accidents and incidents. Review weekly productivity of crews and adjust as necessary. Provide work progress reports as necessary. Develop corrective action plans when required. Participate in monthly Customer program meetings. Regular customer contact and engagement at every level possible. Client networking. Ensure the safe proper use and application of Company equipment and tooling. Ensure proper equipment is procured for projects. Manage tool supervisor and staff. Maintain good working relationships with IBEW locals throughout the Region with regards to hiring, retraining, and termination of craft workers. Assist in Union Negotiations when possible. Qualifications The Operations Manager must have at least 15 years of supervisor and management experience in the Telecommunications construction business. Formal training in management, supervision, and administration is required. The ideal candidate will have extensive field experience in the Telecommunications industry with demonstrated knowledge of aerial and underground construction. Strong leadership, written and verbal communication skills are required. Ability to travel 85% of the time.
