Position Information Class Code: G093C Grade: GS08 FLSA Status: EXEMPT Salary Range: $45,010.00 - $71,792.00 Summary The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing data communications operations and procedures. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. Functions Directs the activities of a professional staff by approving hire recommendations, reviewing performance evaluations, and reviewing and approving/disapproving actions recommended by subordinates. Reviews and analyzes existing procedures, policies, hardware, personnel, and general operations to determine efficiency and effectiveness, and makes changes as necessary. Meets with users and applications staff to discuss new system implementation and operations requirements and develops or revises procedures for computer operators. Establishes implementation, reports effectiveness, and recommends changes. Manages and analyzes communications network design and recommends design changes as necessary. Reviews and evaluates vendor hardware proposals and makes recommendations. Analyzes new project proposals in terms of equipment and personnel requirements and makes recommendations or cost estimates. Performs other duties as assigned. Dimensions None Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of information technology concepts, methods, and standards. Knowledge of computer software and hardware. Ability to plan, organize, and oversee the work of subordinates. Ability to assess the potential impact of proposals and the effectiveness of services and recommend changes. Ability to estimate cost, time, manpower, equipment, and materials required to support current and planned operations. Ability to provide technical advice in areas of expertise. Minimum Qualifications The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related area; plus three years of experience in data communications, including two years in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
