Overview Kantishna Roadhouse (KRH) is a full-service, backcountry lodge located 90 miles into the pristine natural wonder of Denali National Park in a remote area where few are lucky enough to travel. Employees at the Roadhouse will find adventure, tranquility, and an escape from every-day modern life. The season at Kantishna Roadhouse is approximately from May - September and KRH is seeking candidates available to stay the entire season. Room and board are provided free of charge for this position. JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the General Manager, the KRH Operations Manager is responsible for: managing the operations of Kantishna Roadhouse (KRH); oversight and compliance with the operational budget; workforce management to include seasonal hiring, work schedules, and payroll; facilities maintenance and seasonal projects; fleet management and scheduling; and all other seasonal departments and aspects of operational performance. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Confer with General Manager on a regular basis to ensure operations are in alignment with strategic objectives for the company Participate in business development efforts focused on identifying and pursuing new clients and opportunities, and improving operational procedures and customer service Assist in the development of annual and long-term operational plans and budgets Work closely with Sales & Reservations to ensure accuracy of reservations and billing Responsible for oversight of facilities maintenance; ensure safety and comfort in facilities are a priority and heating, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems are in good operational condition Responsible for planning and implementation of preventative maintenance programs for facilities and equipment Oversee and approve ordering of necessary operational supplies and equipment for grounds, maintenance, housekeeping, kitchen, etc. Oversee and monitor construction projects and improvements Responsible for oversight of the KRH automotive and bus fleet Supervise all seasonal employees by providing guidance to department leads; initiate employee actions such as recruitment, selection, transfer, promotion, discipline, and termination for approval by the General Manager; prepare work schedules and training programs for seasonal employees; evaluate employees work performance Interpret and disseminate policies to seasonal employees Identify and resolve operational problems Resolve work conflicts pursuant to Doyon policies; submit unsettled disputes to the General Manager and/or Doyon HR where appropriate Maintain pertinent records to include payroll, work injury reports, accident/incident reports, customer complaints, ADEC inspection reports, water samples, etc. Maintain positive relationships with customers, businesses, the National Park Service, and community organizations to promote goodwill and generate new business Maintain employer records, including personnel records, maintenance reports, work injury reports, customer complaints, and the like Identify and resolve operational problems. Resolve work disputes pursuant to employer policies Submit unsettled disputes to legal counsel where appropriate Perform tasks independently and comprehend drawings, maintenance and operations manuals, diagrams, and blueprints. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Five years progressively responsible administrative experience, facilities management and/or project management experience Three years supervisory experience Three years MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point) Strong leadership skills Willingness to work flexible hours, including early morning, late evenings, and weekends Valid Driver’s License PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: CDL WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The season is approximately June 1 through mid-September at the Kantishna Roadhouse in Denali National Park. The individual will be working with a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities and abilities. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: During the summer season, the incumbent works under the intense pressures sometimes associated with providing quality guest services in remote locations. The incumbent will need to be able to quickly respond to changes in work demands and customer needs. Occasional light lifting, pushing, or pulling (25-50 lbs.) may be necessary.
