Operations Manager We have experienced rapid growth, and we are looking for a sharp, dynamic individual with a lot of initiative and drive to take charge of our Factory / Woodworking Shop. You have great interpersonal skills to communicate with everyone from the owners of the company to hourly employees and manage the department. As a member of our management team, you know & understand our systems and will help develop plans for the future. You are able to identify areas of concern and come up with solutions. You develop processes and procedures to aid in our growth and the long term health of the business. To be successful in this position, you will have the following duties and responsibilities: * Responsible for the plant’s staffing, operational efficiency, maintenance, cleanliness and cost control measures. * Produce high quality jobs on time. * Understand our systems, processes & machinery across manufacturing and installation. * Train personnel on cabinet making, finishing and installation. * Interact with clients as needed to discuss projects and timelines, including issues and resolutions. The following are the requirements you must meet to qualify for the position: * Experience in woodworking * Experience in managing people * Bi-lingual in English and Spanish Functional Responsibilities: The broadly defined areas of Operations Management, including: 1. Achieve Major Operational KPI’s. Achieve and maintain key performance targets for: * Factory Labor * Installation Labor * Support (engineering and other operational support) Labor * Achieve Service rate targets for all new installations * Insure CoGS stay within targets * Reduce and eliminate “rework” and over purchasing of materials necessary to complete the job * Insure quality product is sent out the first time to reduce “go backs” * Maintain good vendor relationships and assist owner in negotiations and purchasing decisions to obtain the best possible pricing * Document procedures for any process not documented 2. Software Maintain and serve the system, and insure all operations entries are updated immediately. Implement and manage all the elements of production process utilizing proprietary software across: * Purchasing * Work Required Reports * Ready Or Not reports * Service Reports * Cut List Required Reports 3. Jobs Ready Insure jobs are ready at a minimum of 48 hours prior to installation. Utilize the job cart ready forms. Insure all job carts are well identified with client name/number prominently displayed for easy identification. Insure all special orders are pulled and available on job cart. Coordinate with purchasing to insure all special orders are available on-site 48 hours prior to installation date. Assign jobs to installers based on size and complexity. Continually review the schedule to maximize our efficiencies and fill vacancies. Work with Office Manager and Service Coordinators to insure all changes are recorded in Closet Ware. 4. Facility, Equipment And Vehicles Insure all shop equipment is maintained according to manufactures scheduled maintenance recommendations. Insure all Vehicles are properly service and maintained and clean for a professional appearance. Keep shop clean and well organized. Maintain MSDS book, first aide, eye wash, eye protection, and other safety related programs. Insure GPS devices are properly installed and installer trucks can be located instantly. Maintain employee training records for all equipment. 5. Personnel Recruit, train and motivate Factory, Installation, and Cut List personnel to insure adequate staffing for all key positions and achieve key labor targets. Effectively cross train employees on different equipment and installation. Establish and maintain an ongoing safety committee and record meeting minutes. When an Installer or Factory Worker says there is a quality issue or missing part, do the following: * Replace the part * Identify who made the error * Correct the problem * Consider whether to implement a change to prevent similar problems in the future. * Hold brief daily team meetings. * Review difficult/challenging installations with installer prior to installation. 6. Customer Relations Insure all Installers are well trained, professional in appearance, and are focused on taking care of the client. Insure Installations start and are completed on time, and job site is left cleaner than when we arrived. Insure installers are prepared with full complement of tools, supplies and hardware. Check jobs for quality, quantity, size and cleanliness. Verify jobs are installed per plans. Get involved with customer to fully understand any open issues and insure all services are reviewed with client and set quickly. Get the check! This means that everyone did their job right. 7. Cut List, Engineering And Sales Support Utilize cut list required reports to insure jobs are ready for manufacturing and 48 hour objective is met. Identify cut list related problems and take corrective action. Work with cut list/engineering to insure all CAD related software instructions are correct. Insure smooth transition from digital cut lists to machinery. Review any unclear jobs with Cut List person and obtain feedback from designer to insure final job is what designer intended. Meet with sales personnel and cut list department to review challenging designs and coordinate “how” we will build the job prior to manufacturing. Periodically meet with sales staff to review any reoccurring problems and issues to insure all groups are working well together. Work with owners and Sales on larger/specialty projects.
