About Blairsville, Special Metals Plant

The Specialty Metals Plant (SMP) is part of Westinghouse Global Operations-Global Manufacturing and has been committed to pursuing the goal of fuel for several decades. With about 300 employees, SMP manufactures zirconium-alloy tubing products used in nuclear fuel assemblies for Westinghouse Nuclear Fuel, our licensees, and other customers worldwide. The facility is a leading supplier of nuclear grade tubing, using state-of-the-art manufacturing and inspection systems to meet the exacting standards and demanding tolerances required by our customers.

 

As a Operations Manager you will manage, planning, directing the manufacturing operations of the SMP Organization.

You will report to the Director of the site and be located at Blairsville, PA. You will support this position 100% onsite..

Key Responsibilities:

Direct all plant operations for continuous improvement in safety and environmental compliance, production, maintenance, quality, shipping and receiving.

Coordinate plant activities, give direction, resolves problems, set deadlines to assure that all Global Manufacturing goals are met in a safely and qualitatively,.

Develop and control financial plan and budget. Implement cost control systems over capital, operating expenditures, labor, wages and salaries to assure plant operations meet company profitability and financial goals.

Establish and achieve productivity targets that inspire year-over-year improvements, by implementing operational excellence manufacturing and other modern manufacturing technologies.

Assure company compliance with all established company and corporate policies, procedures, and governmental regulations on plant safety or environmental issues within the operations group.

Provide input and support to the plant Technical Services Manager to maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; help ensure a health rate of sustain and growth spending of capital investments to ensure long-term capacity and capability.

Remain current on nuclear and metals industry state-of-the-art and technological advancements to assist us in maintaining its manufacturing efficiency and ability.

Lead the performance of direct reports. goals, while striving to improve efficiency.

Assist the Plant Director in making educated decisions for the site-based on multiple data points including financial, QEHS, people and the customer interest aligned with the business and operational strategy.

Lead by example, instilling skillsets and mindsets, to improve; lead projects, strategic plans and teams.

Perform all aspects of the position according to the Westinghouse Code of Conduct and Regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study (Engineering, Material Science, Manufacturing Management)

Ten years’ experience in progressively responsible manufacturing positions is required; previous experience managing direct reports required.

Demonstrated experience with validated bottom-line impact through benchmark global operating models for Operational Excellence, Manufacturing 4.0 (Smart Manufacturing), Artificial Intelligence.

Manufacture excellence knowledge - applies modern manufacturing techniques to lead year-over-year productivity improvement

Employee relations - Ability to develop and establish/maintain positive and productive employee relations with local Unions and the workforce.

Collaboration skills - Ability to maintain collaboration and productive working relationships across the organization and unions.

Meet deadlines and good autonomy to oversee the full cycle of Strategy, Forecasting and winning Results.

Leadership skills - positively model and champion culture; motivate, coach, increase performance; and maximize manufacturing excellence to achieve strategic deliverables and bottom-line results.

Use all methods of communication, oral and written to assure manufacturing strategy is understood across the organization.

Financial skills – budgets, and other financial reports and translate that information into manufacturing action items, goals and deliverables.

Technical expertise – wants to improve and share professional technical knowledge, develop new ideas and seek best industry practices to maintain constant manufacturing capability.

Talent management skills - develop important talent and a focused workforce within the manufacturing organization.

Determination, guide and to accomplish goals.
