Job Description

Position Summary

The Operations Manager is a member of the site leadership team and has accountability for safety, quality, and productivity of the Operations organization at the Silver Peak site. The Operations Manager will be responsible for leading an organization of approximately 30 personnel. The position requires a range of management and technical skills and a thorough understanding of plant systems, processes, policies, and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Drives compliance to Albemarle Standards, Environmental regulations, MSHA regulations and HSE policiesCreates and maintains a respectful and inclusive work environment and maintains Albemarle’s core valuesDevelops and leads implementation of the strategic direction for OperationsProvides leadership and direction for the operating areas including daily production execution to planProvides leadership and guidance for meeting cost, yield and quality requirementsDrives Operational Discipline and Manufacturing ExcellenceLeads the organization to drive incident investigations to root cause and implement corrective actions utilizing the hierarchy of controlCoaches and develops direct reports and cultivates an atmosphere of learning and developmentDevelops and maintains Operations KPIs to drive data-based decision making and improvementsDrives continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering5+ years of leadership experience in a chemical manufacturing environmentDemonstrated influential leadership skillsKnowledge of Process Safety ManagementStrong facilitation and communication skillsExperience coaching and developing othersStrong problem-solving skillsAbility to work effectively in teams and with individuals at all levels within an organization

Preferred Skills and Experience

Prior manufacturing experience, including Line LeadershipLean Management or Six Sigma Green Belt certificationKnowledge of HR process, procedures, and policies
