Operations Manager - High Point

Axalta is searching for an experienced and dynamic Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our waterborne and solvent-based production facilities in High Point, NC. This individual will be responsible for managing the entire operational process, ensuring the efficient and effective production of high-quality products, and leading a large team of employees. The Operations Manager will drive both product quality and operational performance while fostering a collaborative and motivated workforce. In addition, this role will take the lead on maintaining cleanliness and organization within the facilities through rigorous housekeeping standards and 5S projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee Waterborne & Solvent-Based Operations: Manage the entire lifecycle of both waterborne and solvent-based production processes, ensuring the facilities operate efficiently and safely while meeting product specifications and compliance standards.Facility Management: Oversee the daily operations of both production buildings, ensuring that all facilities are maintained, organized, and operating optimally. Ensure that all safety, regulatory, and environmental standards are strictly adhered to.Staff Management: Lead, motivate, and manage a large, diverse team of employees across different departments within the operations. Provide guidance, coaching, and support to supervisors and workers, fostering a culture of accountability, high performance, and continuous improvement.Performance & Productivity: Monitor production performance against key metrics and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and increase overall productivity. Ensure that both production lines meet quality and output targets.Product Quality Management: Ensure that all products manufactured meet the required quality standards. Work closely with quality control and assurance teams to address any product defects or issues and implement solutions to continuously improve product quality.Budget & Cost Management: Oversee the budget for the waterborne and solvent operations, ensuring the cost-effective use of resources while meeting production goals. Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements without compromising product quality or safety.Process Optimization: Identify and implement process improvements to optimize operations, enhance product quality, and reduce waste. Implement Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies to drive continuous improvement across the operation.Safety & Compliance: Ensure that all operations comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies. Proactively address any safety hazards or risks and ensure regular safety training and audits are conducted for all team members.Housekeeping & Facility Cleanliness: Lead the housekeeping efforts within the production facilities, ensuring a clean and organized environment that promotes safety and operational efficiency. Ensure compliance with housekeeping standards, including daily and weekly cleaning schedules.5S Projects & Continuous Improvement: Implement and lead 5S projects to improve workplace organization, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, engaging employees in identifying and implementing opportunities to improve the work environment and production processes.Collaboration with Other Departments: Work closely with other functions, such as logistics, supply chain, maintenance, and planning, to ensure smooth coordination of activities and timely delivery of products. Ensure alignment between operational goals and broader company objectives.Training & Development: Oversee the training and development of all employees under your management, ensuring that team members are well-equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively and safely.Reporting & Documentation: Regularly report on operational performance, including production output, quality metrics, safety incidents, and any other relevant KPIs to site management. Maintain accurate records of operations, employee performance, and compliance documentation.

Qualifications:

7+ years of experience as an Operations Manager, Production Manager, or similar role in a manufacturing or industrial environment.3+ years of leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a large team. Experience building a high-performance culture.In-depth knowledge of production processes, product quality management, and safety standards within the waterborne and solvent-based industry.Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a track record of driving process improvements and optimizing production workflows.Understanding of budget management, cost control, and resource allocation.Experience managing complex operations and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels of the organization.Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements for manufacturing, health, safety, and environmental policies.Experience implementing 5S projects to improve workplace organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field.A results-driven mindset with the ability to meet targets and continuously improve performance.Experience in implementing Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is a plus.Certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other operational excellence methodologies.Focus on waterborne or solvent-based operations.Prior experience in the waterborne or solvent-based production industry is highly desirable.Experience with facility management and housekeeping standards and operations within manufacturing environments.
