TCS Operations Manager Job Specification:

 

Job Summary:

The Operations Manager at TCS (Takealot Courier Services) is responsible for managing and optimising the courier operations, including inbound and outbound logistics, parcel collection, delivery operations, vehicle and MHE management, and sales and marketing of services. The incumbent will ensure operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and continuous process improvements.

 

Key Responsibilities:


Operational Management:

Oversee day-to-day courier operations of inbound and outbound logistics and parcel collection. Ensure parcels are collected, handled, and delivered efficiently and on time. Coordinate resources including personnel, vehicles, and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) to optimize service delivery.

Vehicle and MHE Management:

Oversee the maintenance and efficient use of vehicles and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) under your supervision. Implement and maintain tracking systems to monitor the performance of the fleet and the usage of MHE. Plan and coordinate the use of vehicles to maximize asset productivity. Optimise trip planning and vehicle utilisation through effective route management.

Sales and Marketing:

Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to support the promotion of courier services. Participate in marketing initiatives and assist in maintaining strong relationships with key clients. Support the tracking of sales performance against targets and aid in the implementation of measures to achieve them.

Leadership and Team Management:

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of operations staff and drivers. Facilitate training and ensure team alignment with company standards.

Process Improvement:

Identify areas for operational improvements and implement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and safety protocols.

Customer Satisfaction:

Ensure that new customers are onboarded timeously. Address customer inquiries and resolve issues related to delivery services. Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction through effective service delivery.

Budget and Financial Management:

Prepare and manage operations budgets. Conduct weekly cost vs. budget reviews and implement corrective actions as needed.

Reporting and Analysis:

Generate regular reports on operational performance and key metrics. Utilize analysis to drive continuous improvements.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics, or a related field. Extensive experience with ShipLogics. Proven experience in operations management in the courier or logistics industry. Strong leadership and team management skills. Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Proficiency in logistics software, Microsoft, and Google Suites. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
