Operations Research Engineer
In this role, the Operations Research Engineer will design and optimize intelligent warehouse automation solutions and develop tools to support effective design and optimization at scale. The Operations Optimization team uses advanced algorithms, innovative optimization, data modeling techniques, and data-driven simulation modeling to design these highly optimized solutions. Our focus is on improving customer operational KPIs such as throughput, productivity, capacity, cycle time, on-time shipments, and operating cost. As part of the R&D organization, the team develops solutions that can be applied across a range of customers and identifies appropriate application to meet individual customer needs. Innovative solutions and technology the team works on include robotic mixed case palletizing, multichannel fulfillment centers, autonomous mobile robot solutions, high density buffer storage, and overhead systems.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $82,875-$121,550 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Tasks and Qualifications:

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Partner with internal stakeholders to define and refine solution requirements and test scenariosUnderstand current product and process offerings and recommend innovative applications and integrations utilizing those product offeringsDesign and develop analytical and python-based simulation modelsIdentify, root cause, and propose solutions to bottlenecks using data-driven approaches in both simulated and real-world systemsImprove warehouse automation performance by designing and optimizing processesValidate model accuracy by comparing with real-world systemsProvide guidance on the application of standard solution components to design solutions that meet customer-specific needsDocument and communicate findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences

What we are looking for:       

Experience in and/or knowledge of the Supply Chain/Logistics industry; focus on warehouse operations preferred.Master’s degree (or above) in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent fieldExperience with object-oriented programming – Python (preferred), Java or C++Experience data parsing, analysis and manipulation – Python (preferred) or RStrong math skills and ability to apply it to real world problemsStrong technical and non-technical communication skills, both written and verbalCollaborative, proactive, and self-motivated working styleAdvanced critical thinking skillsPreferred coursework to include:SimulationProgrammingOperations Research (Linear/Non-linear/Integer/Dynamic Programming)Stochastic ProcessesSupply Chain/Logistics/Warehousing/TransportationAbility to travel (possibly internationally) up to <10%
