Operations Safety Technician
Job Summary: 

The Operations Safety Technician will perform various tasks to support plant wide safety goals including maintaining records for regulatory compliance, perform inspections according to manufacturer or OSHA guidance, deliver required safety training, assist the safety committees, be a technical safety resource for the departments, and support production as needed.

This role works Monday thru Friday from 7am – 3:30p. Work hours are subject to change to meet business needs. Overtime as needed based on business needs.

Facility Expectation:Follow the expectations of all Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality standards.Ensure product quality expectations are met.Follow all facility Good Manufacturing Practices as required.Responsible for ensuring area is kept clean and completion of all listed housekeeping duties per the master sanitation schedule.Work with other Operations colleagues to effectively communicate production issues.Participate in morning toolbox, shift exchange/review and response meetings to communicate your key process indicator performance.Once qualified, provide mentoring and training to new colleagues.Required to work overtime as specified by management.Attend training classes in-plant or at other locations as assigned.Work Duties and Required Skills:Follow the expectations of all Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality standards.Responsible for compliance data tracking for training, KPIs and engagement logs and spreadsheets, event entry, and reports.Provide administrative support to the Safety department with filing, scanning, records retention, PolicyTech, and entering daily plant production.Will aid in responsibilities regarding document retention and compliance for all environmental policies, permits, inspections, etc.Evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety programs and policies through consistent monitoring and auditing.PolicyTech document management. Review, scan, and file department compliance paperwork.Ensure accurate Facility safety metrics and investigate accordingly.Lead, support and encourage the actions that are leading indicators, tracked by a safety management index.Perform facility audits in matters of Environmental, Health and Safety in order to verify that the established standards are complied with.Collaborate in the analysis of the risks of the workstations, ergonomics mapping and development or improvement plans if necessary for the application of the same guaranteeing the safety of the activities of each position.Maintain safety reporting requirements in a computer safety management system.Act as a Champion and Mentor for colleague safety engagement that comes in many forms including Values Based (behavior) Safety.Maintain, inspect, test and repair designated safety equipment and supplies.Assist with holding drills, training, and practices for HazMat and Confined Space Rescue.Assist with facilitating Safety Training and practices for HazMat and Confined Space Rescue.Required to work overtime as specified by management.Attend training classes in-plant or at other locations as assigned.Ability to operate Powered Industrial equipment.Cross-trained in production roles to provide coverage on an as needed basis.Perform other duties as assigned by Plant Leadership.Minimum Requirements:High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalentKnowledge and Understanding of a multitude of health and safety regulations and policies with the ability to communicate the requirements effectively and assist the facility with implementation and management.3-5 years of manufacturing experience is preferredEffective oral and written communication skills, including public presentation abilityStrong computer skills including Microsoft office and the ability to quickly learn and utilize standardized systems.Proven ability to work effectively and enthusiastically on a team.Proven ability to recognize hazards, assess risk and recommend controls.Must be organized, possess time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is preferredAbility to act in a professional manner and adhere by ADM’s Code of ConductMust be able to lift up to 55 lbsMust be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfacesAbility to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, and gloves when requiredAbility to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet working conditionsAbility to work with allergens that might be present in a manufacturing environmentADM requires the successful completion of a background check.
