**Operations Shift Supervisor – Brunner Island Steam Electric Station** **Located in York Haven, Pennsylvania, the Brunner Island power plant has three units with dual fuel switching capabilities, allowing it to operate using coal or natural gas.** **We are seeking a Shift Supervisor to join our Operations team.** **Position Summary** **The purpose of the Shift Supervisor position is to supervise the total operation of the station on a shift-by-shift basis within established equipment, safety, and environmental parameters. The Shift Supervisor supervises the personnel on his/her shift to ensure the units are operated in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible. The position coordinates information and work between all departments that support the operation of the station. During off shifts and weekends, the Shift Supervisor assumes prime responsibility to address any situation requiring immediate attention which affects the plant.** **Primary Responsibilities** **Monitor individual generation unit performance and operations to maximize revenue.** **Initiate corrective action as needed through appropriate support work groups.** **Monitor shift performance and initiate corrective measures as needed to meet expectations with regard to safe and correct work procedures, housekeeping, competency, etc.** **Make sure the plant is run within all environmental limits, monitoring all solid waste, liquid and gas discharges from the plant and that all plant personnel follow all safety rules and use all applicable safety equipment.** **Motivate the work force, striving to maintain a positive atmosphere, including coaching and counseling.** **Prepare employee appraisals, stressing strengths, weaknesses, and recommendations for improvement.** **Lead, direct and monitor troubleshooting of plant problems, prioritizing work orders and coordinating repairs in a timely manner at the optimum cost to the company.** **Monitor environmental criteria to try to ensure continuous compliance and adjust operation as necessary. Also, make necessary notifications and documentations.** **Personally, check conditions in the control rooms and in the plant and talk to the shift personnel concerning operating problems.** **Assist with outage management and contractor oversight.** **Update all necessary staff, in detail, of the critical details that transpired during the shift, by log, computer, phone, etc.** **Act as the Plant Manager’s representative during back shifts, weekends, and holidays.** **Basic Qualifications** **High School Diploma is required.** **Minimum of 5 years of experience in power plant operating positions is required.** **Must be medically qualified for respirator use.** **Must attain background checks as required by NERC.** **Must possess computer skills for use with plant systems and communications.** **Preferred Qualifications** **The successful candidate should be well rounded, being able to handle personnel matters, equipment problems, make quick decisions, apply sound judgment and reasoning, provide good documentation and be a leader of others.** **The successful candidate should have a working knowledge of applicable environmental and regulatory requirements as they apply to the station operation.** **The successful candidate ideally will have experience working / supervising in a unionized organization.** **The successful candidate would benefit by having experience as a plant control room operator.** \#LI-EF **Note:** You will have an opportunity to add attachments to your application.
