Operations Specialist - Rotating Shift - Midland, MI

IFF has exciting and challenging opportunity for an Operations Specialist (OS) supporting the METHOCELTM production facility located in Midland, Michigan. This is a growing cGMP facility that produces industry-leading cellulosic products for the pharmaceutical excipient and food markets.

You Will Spend Your Time... 

Assisting in updating plant documentation (SOPs, policies, etc.)Knowing, understanding and following SOP’s, policies and ODMSCommunicating with other shiftsParticipating in goal setting processesParticipating in plant teamsWorking with shift personnel, process engineers, and production coordinator to optimize plant performanceInterfacing with staffConflict resolutionTraining new employees

 

Routine Tasks 

Operate plant via IP21 and ABB operator stationRespond to process alarms appropriately.Check equipment for proper operation and complete any operating and equipment checklists.Check equipment lubrication systems and lubricate as needed.Change filters and dust collector bags.Unload and load railcars.Change nitrogen cylinders.Document in appropriate places (i.e. logbook, MTL, SAP, Electronic Logbook, etc.)Monitor raw materials and supplies.Assist with unloading.Communicate with Grinder Operator for pulp status.Other duties as assigned by Head Operator.

 

Required Skills... 

 

Basic & Technical Knowledge Requirements

Must pass an examination comprised of an oral, field and/or written portions encompassing the process equipment, operating concepts and technical principles.Must be physically able to lift 50 lbs and climb stairs.Must have clear understanding of IP21 and ABB programming.Ability to be Control Room Contact.Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb stairs, use ladders, and use general housekeeping tools such as shovels, brooms, etc.  Methocel is a multi-level plant with several staircases.  Occasionally employees do work at heights.  Must be able to operate a fork truck.Respirator fit testing is required, and fork truck operator license is required.
