The Operations Specialist position is based out of Kinder Morgan’s Tennessee Gas Pipeline (TGP) Albany Compressor Station No. 204 located at 2335 SR 50 West Albany, OH 45710. Primary Purpose:

 

The Operations Specialist will primarily be responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of natural gas compressor units, onsite power generation units, related ancillary equipment, and pipeline facilities. The successful candidate will be a strong team contributor with a proactive approach to balance planned and emergent work. Our Operations Specialists are responsible for operating, performing routine service and maintenance, troubleshooting and diagnosing reciprocating engine- driven gas compressor sets, electric motors, generators, pumps, valves, valve operators, relief valves, etc. Responsibilities also include performing operation and maintenance tasks on pipelines and pipeline related equipment. Additional responsibilities include:

 

Maintain and contribute to the safe operation of Company assetsTrain and qualify to complete relevant DOT covered tasksStart, stop and operate reciprocating engine-driven compressors to maintain designated operating parameters and meet customer demandsIdentify facility and equipment malfunctions and take immediate corrective action when safe to repairFollow developed job procedures, site specific work plans and O&M policy and identify areas for procedural improvementsEnsure the cost effective operation and efficient performance of all engines and associated equipmentContinuously review facility operations and adjust for optimizationComplete general upkeep, housekeeping and maintenance of all facilities and equipment, including remote locationsAssist with pipeline pigging activities for maintenance and assist with ILIComplete detailed reports and documentation for record keepingMaintenance and perform limited repairs to facility equipment (e.g., wheeled tractors, pick-up trucks, fork lifts, pneumatic pumps, air compressors, coolers)Assist with the creation, planning, forecasting and managing of the district’s budgetsCommunicate articulately with work group, service providers and larger audiencesAssist one-call locates and pipeline damage prevention activitiesMust live within a 35 minute response/travel time to work location·         Will require minimal out of town travel (1 week per year).

Job Qualifications:

Ability to effectively organize, plan, prioritize, document, and complete work with minimum supervisionActively participate in safety programs and initiativesComputer skills in common programs (MS Office) and willingness to learn various operating systems, and other company softwareBasic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals)Ability to work in a team environment, take direction from supervisors or senior peers and contribute to a collaborative goalAccept mentoring and mentor peers when working in teamsStrong verbal and written communication skillsRequired to perform on-call / call out duties which will require carrying a cell phoneMust possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the CompanyOvertime and work after regular business hours is anticipatedBe available for shift work when applicable.Keep required job schedule, focus on details, and follow work rules

 

Experience Requirements:

Knowledge of gas compressor and transmission pipeline systems operationsKnowledge of operating costs and best practices associated with natural gas pipeline equipmentExperience reading and interpreting blueprints, P&IDs, and other diagramsKnowledge and experience in safe work practices when working around high pressure systemsKnowledge of company policies, procedures and practices, and regulatory and tariff requirements

 

Physical Requirements:

Physical ability to lift as much as 50lbs, bend/stoop, kneel and climb stairs/laddersAbility to use hand tools and equipment, repetitive hand use such as simple grasp and twisting motion included
