Operations Supervisor

The John Tillman Company, a Bunzl Company, was founded in 1928 and is the leading manufacturer and supplier of welding protective products in the United States.  Tillman supplies products to over 2,000 distributors nationwide from its regional warehouses in Compton, CA and Fairfield, OH.  

We are currently seeking an individual with strong communication skills and experience in distribution, operations management, inventory management, and staff development to support our facility in Fairfield OH.

As the Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for the operations of the Facility business and will help cover the business when the manager of the facility is absent, Ensuring safety of all employees, audit requirements, facility, and equipment maintenance, along with personnel development and staffing.  In addition, assistance with daily operations including order fulfillment is required.

Responsibilities:

EHS audit preparation, cooperation and information updates. Management of physical inventory and cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy. Supervise Shipping, Receiving and production Personnel. Assist in the development of productivity & accuracy standards and follow-up to ensure acceptable quality control standards are met. Analyze and make improvement recommendations to established departmental processes and procedures. Responsible for ensuring that department associates are trained on safe work practices. Develop hourly associates to become leaders of tomorrow by coaching, counseling and motivating associates to attain optimum performance, productivity levels, and associate morale. Responsible for hiring and discipline as needed. Facility and equipment upkeep, maintenance and logs. Assist with day to day operations. Ensure that all company and HR policies and practices are communicated to department associates and practiced consistently (i.e. Attendance policy, Workers Comp programs, etc.). Maintain timekeeping system.  Monitor operational policies and procedures to ensure the most efficient and effective processing and delivery of orders.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree preferred Minimum of 6 to 8 years warehouse or distribution center experience. Must have the ability to act independently. Spend time on the floor to ensure appropriate knowledge of the work being supervised. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus  Microsoft Excell Intermediate to Advance knowledge for reporting. Conduct Safety observations and enter data in system. Coach associates to maximize performance using established coaching methods. Provide feedback to associates focusing on behaviors and results that drive learning and performance. Follow-up with associates to assess progress on action plans and determine next steps. Work alongside warehouse manager and other supervisors for daily operations. Administer and manage the corrective action process when necessary. Actively pursue opportunities to grow and develop personally.
