Operations Team Leader

You will be responsible for managing workloads within the team and ensuring work items are processed accurately within the pre-agreed Turnaround Times. 

The Team Leader has the responsibility of managing a UA team in the day-to-day operations. You will provide a blend of support, compassion, and focus on coaching and assisting team members in their goals and personal development. 

You will promote a culture of excellence, with a right first-time approach and continual improvement through regular quality checks, training, and process reviews. You will project an attitude that engenders positivism and motivation in others.

You will act as a subject matter expert for all processes owned by the team and ensure that team members are provided with the appropriate training and support to meet the agreed business requirements.

Key Responsibilities: 

Manage the delivery of services in an efficient manner, ensuring work and relevant queries are resolved within the agreed turnaround times, and that the team is setup to support all underwriting teams efficiently. Ensure clear and consistent communication is maintained across the immediate team, and in line with the wider Operations Team and Underwriting teams as required.Regularly review performance against plan, at team and individual level, utilising the performance management processes and guidelines. Support the development and training needs of the team to ensure that skills are aligned to our business goals. Support, encourage and advise team members regarding their individual goals and performance by conducting regular Team and individual meetings. Identify, and provide relevant support where required, ensuring any underperformance of KPI's is identified, and appropriate plans are created to rectify. Manage day-to-day operations of the UA team.Ensure the team are trained and equipped to meet the agreed business needs, escalating issues where relevant.Track and support the delivery of the teams work by checking SLAs are adhered to and accuracy targets are met. Take ownership for query / issue resolution.Undertake quality control checking of work elements to evidence the service provided. Identify, drive and support process improvements.Promote best practice and ensure processes are conducted consistently across Operations and relevant lines of Business. Ensure processes are regularly reviewed and updated to maintain relevancy and efficiency. Regular MI to be produced weekly, monthly, and as required.Develop knowledge of all relevant lines of business to facilitate training and accurate processing of work elements within the team.Any other ad-hoc projects and analysis as required.Work with HR and Operations Manager to support the recruitment and onboarding of new Underwriting Assistants.Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with other functions.

Requirements & Experience: 

Insurance industry knowledge.Experience of delivering to tight deadlines and SLAs in a high-performance team.Demonstrable experience of relationship, negotiation and influencing skillsAbility to manage and motivate team: ‘Desirable’.Good standard of general education (including Highers / GCSEs or equivalent in English & Mathematics).CII certificate qualification (desirable).
