Role and Responsibilities:

We are seeking an Operations Technician for our hydrogen facility in Corunna. The Corunna hydrogen (gas) production facility (rated as a 1st Class Steam Plant), is a natural gas-based steam methane reformer assisting refiners in producing cleaner transportation fuels and other petroleum products from heavier crude feedstocks.

The Operations Technician works as part of a team and is responsible for our Hydrogen facility Plant using process knowledge to achieve safe and efficient operating results. The incumbent is responsible for controlling and monitoring the process to produce hydrogen for our highly automated plant (e.g. steam system, compressors, rotating equipment, and DCS operation), as well as work alongside Maintenance and Instrument/Electrical Technicians to maintain equipment.

Responsibilities include:

Perform electrical, instrument and mechanical work. Minor construction/maintenance as required i.e. plant modifications. Taking field readings and performing equipment inspections. Ability to contribute at plant turnarounds is required. Requirement to be able to work in Confined Space situations, either being responsible for people working in confined space, or as an attendant logging people in and out, plus monitoring the atmosphere of confined space.   Prepare and submit documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures, internal/external audits, management of change documents. Project Management – take lead on plant projects as required.  Monitor activities of external contractors. Follow Lockout Tagout Procedures. Travel to US for training purposes. Travel in North America to support other plants for shift coverage in remote areas, as well as plant turnarounds. Taking part in operational upgrade events locally and at other Air Products facilities. Actively taking part in safety meetings and safety committees.  

Required Skills / Abilities:

Mechanical aptitude. Demonstrated interpersonal skills. Track record of success on safety, environmental, quality programs. Proven communication skills. Computer skills required for digital control systems operation, as well as basic computer skills in data-processing and electronic communication (MS Office). This is a 24/7 operation; must have ability to work shifts/weekend as well as be on-call. Team based attitude. 

Education and Licensing Requirements:

Must have 2nd Class TSSA Operating Engineer Certificate. Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
