POSITION SUMMARY:
The Operations Technician position is located at Marathon’s Woodhaven, MI facility. This position works in and around refined petroleum products and crude oil facilities executing Operations & Logistics, Damage Prevention, and Right of Way Relations activities.
The successful candidate will perform such duties as facilitating and monitoring pipeline movements, conducting LPG sampling, processing batch tickets, completing routine facility checks, climbing storage tanks in excess of 40 feet, and performing tasks in extreme weather, including snow removal. All duties will be completed in accordance with all regulations in support of DOT, PSM, environmental, safety, and regulatory compliance. Travel, callouts, and overtime will be required on an as-needed basis. Job duties are physically demanding, at times are conducted in high-noise environments, and require attention to detail. Individual must be able to lift 40 lbs. and be able to attain a forklift and aerial lift license.
Marathon Pipe Line LLC operates more than 10,000 miles of underground pipeline in 26 states. The successful candidate is required to live within 45 minutes of the reporting location (Woodhaven, MI).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Operations Technician will perform tasks associated with pipeline movements and measurements, routine station checks, station alarm response and resolution, communication of findings to appropriate parties, right-of-way conflict response, work order creation and closure in SAP for required preventative and corrective maintenance, coordination of maintenance activities, and completion of all required training. Reviewing and executing procedures to maintain safe and reliable operations. Managing propane truck rack operations and training drivers to safely load propane. Issuing work permits and managing contractors on site. All work to be performed in a safe and environmentally conscious manner in accordance with all Environmental, Safety, and Regulatory requirements.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
A high school diploma or GED is required. An associate’s degree in a technical field is preferred but not required. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record. Proficiency in basic computer skills is expected. Previous pipeline experience is preferred. Must be willing to work a 12-hour shift with rotations, including nights and weekends. Must be willing to work overtime as business needs dictate, which may include work on nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be willing to travel as business needs dictate.#LS #MP
