Summary: The Operations Training Lead supports the Operations Training Supervisor in implementing and maintaining effective training programs for production team members in the cheese conversion plant. This hands-on role helps ensure all employees are trained to meet safety, quality, and operational standards while promoting a culture of Continuous Improvement (CI). The Training Lead acts as a mentor on the floor, a resource for new and existing employees, and a key contributor to the plant’s training and performance goals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities + Support the Training Supervisor in executing training programs for new hires and existing staff across production areas. + Deliver hands-on instruction on equipment operation, sanitation practices, safety procedures, and quality standards. + Assist with onboarding and orientation of new employees, ensuring consistent communication of company expectations and procedures. + Monitor employee performance and provide real-time coaching and feedback to ensure adherence to training and production standards. + Conduct routine observations and report progress, gaps, or concerns to the Training Supervisor. + Help maintain training records and documentation in systems such as Alchemy and Q-Matrix. + Serve as a positive role model for safety, GMP compliance, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). + Partner with operators, leads, and supervisors to ensure ongoing development and cross-training opportunities are effectively implemented. + Support Continuous Improvement initiatives by participating in team meetings, identifying process inefficiencies, and assisting with basic problem-solving efforts. + Reinforce CI, safety, and quality culture throughout daily interactions on the floor. + Assist with shift communication by helping cascade important updates and training information between teams and across shifts. + Step in as acting lead on the floor when needed and provide backup support for the Training Supervisor during absences or special projects. + Help ensure compliance with all food safety and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, HACCP, GMP, OSHA). + Perform other duties as assigned in support of team and plant goals. Qualifications, Skills, Education and/or Experience + High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or vocational training preferred. + 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in food or dairy processing. + Prior experience in a lead, trainer, or mentor role is highly desirable. Skills & Competencies: + Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to coach and mentor others. + Solid understanding of cheese conversion equipment and procedures. + Familiarity with safety practices, GMPs, and quality control standards. + Basic knowledge of training systems and documentation tools (e.g., Alchemy, Q-Matrix) a plus. + Dependable, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently or in a team environment. + Willingness to work across shifts or flexible hours based on training needs.
