Job: Mill Room OperatorLocation: Mars Petcare (Temple, Texas)
Mars Petcare is seeking a Mill Room Operator to join our exciting pet food business at a manufacturing plant in Temple, Texas. We focus our attention on the unique needs of cats and dogs. The Mill Room Operator functions as a member of an area team directly responsible for efficiently batching quality products in the required quantities. This role will operate/change over specified machinery in the assigned area. Mill Room Operators must ensure efficiency, operational conformance, product quality, and continuous improvement. Mill Room Operators must have the skill set to train and/or perform the tasks of other associates in the area as needed. This job requires strong communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills to support site objectives.
Responsibilities:
Performs all assigned activities and job tasks within the area.Operates equipment safely and efficiently.Takes corrective actions in solving problems to the root cause level.Assess equipment operating reliability and perform routine blown screens, change of filters, hammer rotations, and malfunction troubleshooting.Performs and/or works with Maintenance to complete equipment preventive maintenance.Maintains accurate records of screen checks, batch numbers, and bag ingredient track log reports.Performs all shift support documentation in a quality matter.Performs QC tasks such as magnet checks, inspection of date codes on ingredient bags, item numbers, etc.Demonstrates a high degree of ownership for product quality: Performs all standard quality checks & other quality-related duties.Understand production schedules, production computer systems, work instructions, and production inventories.Support and follow the direction of the Extruder Operator and Shift Lead.Physical/Environmental Requirements:
Standing on a concrete floor and in a noisy areaWearing proper personal protective equipment (bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, dust mask, and uniform)Bending, stooping, twisting, turning, standing for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50 lbs.Must be able to adapt to temperature and environmental extremes such as hot to cold, dust dye colors, and other ingredients.Minimum Qualifications:
Be 18 years of age or older.Have a High school diploma, GED, or equivalent educationMust be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedules.Ability to understand and effectively communicate in the English language.Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years of manufacturing experience operating a variety of machines.Two years of work experience within manufacturing or a technical and/or trade discipline.Demonstrated competency in computer and PC software, including MS Office and email.Knowledge of inventory control principles.Total Rewards/Compensation:
