Performs duties to operate Robot cells, CNC machine, secondary equipment (lathe, drilling or tapping), deburr die casting and machining burrs, wash, inspect, assemble and pack parts in accordance with quality specifications. Train other team members in cell expectations. Additional responsibilities are dependent on the level of the operator.


 Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include:

Follow safety rules and keep work area clean and orderly.Remove part from fixture, visually inspect for completed operations, and use inspection gages as directed for defects.Remove flash and parting line from castings with air tools and remove machining burrs with hand tools as directed. Blow chips from parts.Assemble and test parts with air gun or by hand as directed. Wash parts in machine or by hand.Place accepted parts in cardboard boxes or Gaylord’s and pack as directed. Set-up cartons staple flaps and add dividers as necessary.Push material handling baskets to and from work station.Prepare required production and quality control reports.Perform machine specific TPM requirements and notify set-up person or supervisor of machine problems, and part or material problems.Clean fixtures with air gun and brush, locate casting properly on machine fixtures, lock fixtures, lubricate fixtures as needed and activate machine tools.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities 

Understanding of machine set-up sheets and process control plansUnderstanding of the use of hand-held gaugesKnowledge and support of the safety programAbility to deburr machined parts using hand-held deburring and power deburring tools and advanced      deburring equipmentAbility to wash machined parts using automatic washing or manual washing equipment.Ability to use basic gaging and measuring equipment.Ability to identify defects and inspect parts using process control plans.Ability to start all secondary equipment from power off to cycle start and operate all secondary equipment.Basic computer skills. 

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or equivalency      (HSED or GED). Six months to one year of experience operating a CNC machine, secondary machinesFamiliarity with quality control gauges.

Physical Demands

Required to stand and walk continuously, bend, use hand or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. Required to handle parts weighing from 5 to 50 pounds. Requires very repetitive upper extremity work in all tasks. Required to frequently bend forward through the partial range on CNC machines and through the full range during the packing of parts.Good vision is required to inspect work. Continuous mental and visual attention to operating machinery involving repetitive or diversified work which requires constant alertness or activity
