Position Summary:
Answer and follow through on incoming telephone calls. Ability to monitor and respond to emergency alarms. Acts as patient information area and assists customers with directions and other customer related issues. Maintains a physician answering service.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Answers incoming telephone calls; relays calls; may give limited information, according to established procedure.
2. Announces various notifications; pages by voice and beeper.
3. Controls television and telephone panels; replaces and distributes telephones; reports and documents all Medical Center telephone repairs.
4. Assists patients and others in placing telephone calls.
5. Monitors patient census list and physician registry; assumes responsibility for the Physicians Answering Service, according to established procedure.
6. Responds to alarms according to established procedure.
7. Performs routine typing and clerical duties.
8. May perform Job Responsibilities of CLERK/GENERAL (INFORMATION).
9. Participates in performance improvement activities.
10. Performs other related duties as required and directed.
