Schedule: M-F, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

General Purpose
The Operator position is an entry level role at our location in Ypsilanti, MI. As an Operator you will be joining a well-established Team at a growing company where you will offload various products from railcars to trucks and trucks to railcars for our customer as well as any other duties as assigned. Example products are flour, plastics, waste materials, Ferrous Chloride, etc.
Postition Description
+ Read and understand all standard operating procedures as well as safety requirements for the role
+ Execute all pre-load tasks such as putting up flags and derails, complete inspections and conduct maintenance as needed.
+ When trucks arrive, check in drivers by inspecting trailer, confirming correct railcar, taking samples, checking seals on trailer, etc. and signing off on driver when complete.
+ Thoroughly inspect and operate crane to insure product can be safely loaded from rail to truck or truck to rail depending on the product.
+ Complete all applicable documentation, recordkeeping and daily inventory.
+ Participate in safety briefings, job briefings, and any other pass on information from team members, management or customer.
+ Climb onto top and underneath railcars in order to inspect and seal railcars using a checklist
+ Other duties as assigned
+ Skills, Abilities & Requirements
+ Must be able to work with a team, take direction and follow work rules, as well as, take on additional job responsibilities as needed or assigned
+ Must maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performance
+ Ability to work outside majority of the time and withstand extreme weather conditions
+ Flexibility required; ability to work days, nights, weekends when necessary
+ Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements
+ Working knowledge of Watco Safety and Operating principles
+ Follow written and verbal directions to complete assigned tasks on schedule.
+ Read, write, and communicate in English & understand basic math.
+ Learn from directions, observations, and mistakes and apply procedures using good judgment.
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ Valid driver's license
Machine, Tools, Special Equipment, Personal Protective Equipment Used
+ Required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment including, but not limited to uniform, steel toed boots, eye protection, hard hat, gloves, vest, radio, etc.
+ Operate a loader for snow removal, impact guns, air tools, man lift to work in load out, be able to operate a vehicle, raise and lower loading arms, wire cutters to cut zip ties, power tools, wrenches.
