We are looking for an Operator - Natural Gas Storage, to join us in the exciting work we do in ATCO EnPower. Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, it will be your responsibility to work with fully qualified operations personnel to safely operate the facility including checking the performance of the operation, the condition of plant processing equipment and general maintenance and cleanup duties.

Location: Carbon, AB. It is required to be within 40 min to work location.

Temporary - 2 years

Rotation: This position is based on a shift of 8 days on, 6 days off, working 10-hour shifts per day.

Safety, Regulatory & Compliance

Maintain a high standard of safety by ensuring policies and procedures are followed in relation to operations and maintenance tasks. Maintain familiarity with site Specific Emergency Response Plan

Operating Expertise

Accountable for adhering to Operations and Site-Specific Operating Procedures by conducting basic and moderately routine operating activities. Monitor and log equipment to ensure it is functioning within design parameters from both the control panel and field measurements. Comply with the Pressure Equipment Integrity Programs. Understand the various regulatory frameworks that ATCO EnPower operates under. Responsible for facility housekeeping duties as required. Support internal customers including Accounting, Engineering, Project Execution and Business Development with business initiatives. Represent ATCO’s core values within the communities and industries we serve. On-call duties as required. Must be able to respond to the Carbon Facility within 30 minutes of a call-out when on-call (one or 2 days per shift).

Maintenance & Planning

Operates the storage assets in injection or withdrawal. Facilities include Wells which consists of pumps, dehydration towers, JT Plants, stabilizer, hot oil system, flares, incinerators, reboilers, tanks, instrument air, delta V control systems, pressure piping, vessels, compressors, wellheads, well sites and below ground pipelines. Identify maintenance requirements and follow processes to ensure repairs are completed through Maximo.

Leadership

Mentor and coach Entry level operators, aiding in their development and progression. Provide on-the-job training to entry level operators.

Who You Are:

Minimum of a High School Diploma Minimum of 5 -7 years relevant experience Fired Process Heater Operator Certification Gas Plant Experience (GPO) and/or Dehydrator experience (FPO) would be an asset. Trade Ticket or Technology Diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical or Welding would be an asset.  Experience working within an Operation Team in a remote facility is preferred. A strong understanding of safety and regulatory requirements Efficient computer skills with a good working knowledge of MS Office and plant control systems Valid Class 5 Driver’s License This position is a Safety-Sensitive position and has additional pre-employment requirements as identified in the Alcohol & Drug Policy 6.2.3 Applicant Testing.
