**Summary**
Reporting to the Area Manager, the Operator responds as necessary to provide first call service on customer specific equipment.
**Essential Duties & Responsibilities**
+ Perform skilled tasks including all levels of startup, shutdown, operating, and performing minor repairs to rental fleet compressors.
+ Understand gas gathering, distribution, compression, and treating concepts.
+ Able to identify and understand gas compositions, flow system challenges, and characteristics of treated and untreated gas.
+ Troubleshoot and diagnose compressor system failures and communicate those failures with the Customer, Operations, and Maintenance teams.
+ Optimize compression equipment performance.
+ Comply with all company and customer safety and environmental policies and procedures.
+ Comply with all other company policies and procedures.
+ Complete appropriate paperwork as directed.
+ Continually hone and develop electronic and computer skills.
+ Demonstrate and further develop leadership skills.
+ Present a professional image.
**Education & Certifications**
+ A High School Diploma or equivalent- required.
+ Valid Driver’s License, with Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) within the acceptable parameters of Company Policy, required.
**Work Experience**
+ 1+ years of oil field operations or related industry experience required
+ 1+ years of compressor operations or related industry experience preferred
**Skills & Abilities**
+ Must be highly proficient in compressor and engine operations.
+ Possess complete understanding of surface production equipment.
+ Must have troubleshooting skills that seldom require assistance.
+ Should be able diagnose general electronic control problems.
+ Must be willing to travel and willing to relocate, if necessary.
+ Must have mechanical aptitude.
+ Must be able to meet company lifting standards
+ Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
+ Must have good customer-relation skills.
+ Must be able to work nights and days for 12-hour shifts on a rotating shift schedule.
**Physical Demands**
+ Requires operation of heavy equipment.
+ Requires employee to stand for up to 75% of the time.
+ Requires employee to sit for up to 25% of the time.
+ Requires employee to climb ladders or stairs to inspecting, repairing, and painting equipment and must be able to maintain balance on stairs and/or ladders without assistance.
+ Must be able to frequently lift at least 10 pounds, infrequent lifting of > 50 lbs.
+ High noise environment (>85dbA) will occur with ear protection.
+ Potential, controlled, exposure to hazardous chemicals.
+ Requires work in outdoor conditions, including extreme heat and extreme cold.
+ Requires moving and maintaining self in different positions—stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
+ Must wear all required PPE, including fire-retardant clothing, hard hats, face shields, hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots.
+ Requires an employee to frequently type and use computer and other office equipment such as a copier, printer, calendar, telephone, etc.
