The Operator I operates production machinery that shapes and deposits products according to published schedules. This position ensures the quality of the products by enforcing SQF (food safety), GMP (general manufacturing practices), and Quality policy, safety, and sanitation regulations. This position is responsible for completing all Operator responsibilities as well as functions of a Line Worker, Mixer Attendant and Melter. Key responsibilities include: + Perform set up, operate, and maintain various machinery and equipment to ensure standards are met or exceeded. + Control equipment operations to regulate size, speed, temperature, and consistency of products. + Start and observe machines for color and verify weight of products to ensure conformity to standards. + Knowledge of various productions to be manufactured to include temperatures and viscosity. + Follow scheduling requirements on a daily basis. + Dismantle equipment, including extruders and conveyors for cleaning. + Responsible for requesting and transferring raw materials from storage silo to daily bin. + Enter recipe data according to the production schedule. + Record raw material incoming number on production order sheet. + Adjust pre-refiner/refiner and conch temperatures according to recipe and customer specifications. + Add fat, flavors and emulsifiers to conch or horizontal tanks according to recipes. + Pump product from conches to finished/vertical tanks according to production schedule. + Responsible for basic and preventative maintenance, report improvements needed to the supervisor. + Verify viscosity of finished product and adjust as needed. + Sample finished product. + Fill drums and pails with finished product. + Cross train to perform all functions of Line Worker, Mixer Attendant and Melter. + Comply with all company and department specific quality, safety, SQF, and GMP policies and procedures. + Responsible for cleanliness of all areas in the department as well of following all GMP’s and Safety Regulations. + Perform other assignments as directed. About you: + High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required + Three to six months related experience and/or specific On the Job Training (OJT) under supervision + Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PLC control panels, LX and Maintenance Work preferred + Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety, SQF, and GMP rules, operating, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. + Ability to use scales and have general math skills in percentages, fractions, and decimals + Ability to follow both written and oral instructions and demonstrate suitable decision-making skills + Teamwork and Cooperation –genuine intention to work cooperatively with others as part of a team + Initiative – doing more than required or expected in the job + Customer Service Orientation – help or serve others, to meet their needs; focus efforts on discovering and meeting customer needs + Concern for Order, Quality and Accuracy – monitors and checks quality of own work What you can expect from Barry Callebaut: + Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package + 12 paid holidays, generous PTO, plus your birthday off + Environment that welcomes workplace flexibility + An atmosphere where diversity is embraced, and inclusivity is second nature.
