While reporting to the production shift supervisor, you will be responsible for primarily working on the 48” winder. You should be aware that there will be times where you will be assisting other spiral lines as needed.  Excellent attendance is crucial for the team to achieve success. You must have a proven record of success in a fast-paced environment. You will take pride in your personal hands-on and analytical abilities, organizational skills and attention to detail. Plant and job seniority/ lines of progression, as outlined by corporate HR procedures will be followed when filing this position.

Day to day responsibilities include:

Setup and operation of all associated equipmentResponsible for safe job practices as outlined in the job safety analysisResponsible for the safety of assigned team members and safe working conditionsDirecting crew in all activities in a safe and efficient mannerTraining and development of crew.Minimizing downtime and maximizing utilization by properly directing crew.Checking production reports at end of shift for completeness and accuracyLoading product off the spiral line in various packagesMaking sure that product is made to specifications and that accurate production counts are maintainedPerforming quality inspections as requiredRunning reports in OracleMaintaining good housekeeping and organization of machine and work area, and reports unsafe conditions or practices to management5S/DTM activitiesAll other duties assigned.

This position is in our plant in Jacksonville, FL

We expect you to be Sonoco mission drivenWe would like for you to have at least 1 year in a manufacturing/warehouse environment  You have to have a “get it done” attitude and an urgency to resolve problems/tasks.To succeed in this role you will need excellent written and verbal communication skillsWorking independently and managing multiple tasks simultaneously is needed.You need to have working knowledge of our products and their quality requirements.Being reliable, having good initiative, being committed, and being quality focused is a must.You will need to be able to lift 25 lbs. as needed.Having the ability to effectively work with a team in a fast-paced environment is crucial to success.You will need to have the ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions.You will need to able to perform repetitive duties, including going up and down stairs and standing for long periods of time.You will need to have the ability to work quickly while maintaining a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
