Job Summary:
The OPEX Analyst will work with the Distribution Center (DC) Leadership team to drive efficiency through labor planning, automation efficiency and implementing productivity projects. This will be accomplished within the framework of the ongoing implementation of PEAK (Newell’s LEAN program) initiatives with a focus on meeting Gross Productivity targets. Responsibilities will also include continuous improvement, maintenance of the DC’s Labor Management System, DC reporting and slotting while monitoring results of identified productivity initiatives. Areas of focus will include, receiving, replenishment, picking, packing, loading, labor standards and automation.
Job Duties:
Identify and facilitate process improvement projects, especially relating to, slotting, Labor Management, and automation aligned with the PEAK program and business productivity goals. Responsible for helping creating, communicating, and implementing the DC slotting plan. Document all DC processes. Demonstrate leadership and commitment with respect to Safety Culture, Quality Policy, also to ISO Standard Processes, Customer Focus and Continuous Improvement best practices. Implement test cases and scenarios for new equipment and automation in a start-up facility. Working with the Operations Managers to identify process improvement opportunities. Implement process flow improvement projects. Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine processes, staff requirements, and production standards. Create training material and programs for DC teams as it relates to automation and process improvement initiatives. Work with facility and automation engineering teams along with DC personnel to review and improve upon repetitive work processes. Change agent to area leaders and team members, empowering employees through positive reinforcement in a team-oriented continuous improvement environment. Maintain Labor Management System by creating standards, performing time studies, updating rates, and adding new processes. Create and maintain DC reporting tools geared towards automation, planning and staffing. Create Best practices around labor and reporting processes for DCs. Build reporting documents that aid in solution adoption/implementation and tracking against key performance indicators. Provide structured and creative analysis to identify performance improvement opportunities and effectively communicate findings with DC associates and leadership. Perform ad hoc analysis as required.
Requirements/Education Level
Bachelor’s degree in related engineering fields, Supply Chain or Business Administration or 3+ years of related experience in a Logistics or Manufacturing setting with experience in project management and process flow
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability
Demonstrated experience implementing and supporting distribution or manufacturing disciplines, such as, Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen Experience with various distribution technologies, including, labor management, automation, and warehouse management systems. Superior analytical and process improvement skills. Strong understanding of logistic process flows and proven ability to identify and correct bottlenecks/constraints in a fast-paced logistics environment. Strong PC skills including Windows, Word, Excel, Access and SPC applications. Excellent verbal, written and technical communication skills effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. Proficient with computer and information technology (preferred: PKMS, SAP, Manhattan Associates LMS) Accountable, Self-directed, Analytical, Disciplined, Hands-on, with Strong Inter-personal skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to develop, implement, and analyze reporting Metrics, Productivity Reporting, as well as analyzing failure and problem resolution. Knowledge of general business computer software and aptitude to learn new applications. Action oriented – results driven. Works collaboratively at all levels of the organization. Demonstrates integrity and credibility in all aspects of responsibility. Proven track record of results in a fast-changing environment
Physical Demands
Must be able to work in a warehouse environment, loud noise and wear proper PPE. Able to lift, push, carry and pull up to 50lbs. Walking 50% of time out on warehouse floor, 50% in desk environment.
