Assists in direct and indirect patient care under the direct supervision of an ophthalmologist.

Elicit and record the medical history of the patient. Prepare patients for treatment and assist ophthalmologist in performance of patient exam. Take visual acuity of patient. Measure performance of auto-refractions and intraocular pressure checks on patient. Perform visual field testing on referred patients and accessing all visual field data when patient is seen in the eye clinic. Perform Optical Coherence Tomography and endothelial cell counts on referred patients. Represent the department in all health fairs. Continually update all patient literature.
