Are you living your life's work? **Entity:** Clinical Practices of the University of Pennsylvania (CPUP) **Location:** Penn Medicine Radnor- 145 King of Prussia Rd **Hours:** Fulltime **Department:** Ophth Clinical Support Radnor **Summary** : Under the supervision of the Ophthalmology Imaging Leadership, the Ophthalmic Diagnostic Imaging Specialist I is responsible for performing and coordinating patient testing services. The primary purpose of this position is to provide a variety of tests in order to aid physicians in the documentation, diagnosis, tracking, and treatment of eye conditions. **Responsibilities** : Perform diagnostic imaging, which may include corneal topography, optical coherence tomography, color and monochromatic fundus photography, scanning laser ophthalmoscopy, fundus autofluorescence, retinal screening, fluorescein and/or indocyanine-green angiography, slit lamp biomicrography, goniography, specular microscopy, external eye photography, ocular surface interferometry, intraocular lens calculations, a-scan biometry, diagnostic b-scan ultrasonography, ultrasound biomicroscopy, and additional tests such as visual field exams, electrophysiology, color vision and dark adaptation testing. Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment. Perform study imaging per protocol, which may require completion of additional research certifications and secure document transfer to reading centers. Prepare rooms, maintaining cleanliness of testing areas. Explain procedure details to patients, appropriately responding to questions and concerns. Assist patients through procedures, ensuring secure and proper positioning for testing. Confirm testing result availability through picture archiving and communication system, documenting procedure details within electronic medical record. Identify equipment malfunction and quality issues, communicating problems to manager and technical support personnel. Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures. Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization. **Credentials:** + CDOS or CRA or OCT-C or ROUB (At least one of the above ophthalmic imaging certifications required) + COA, COT, COMT (Preferred) **Education or Equivalent Experience:** + H.S. Diploma/GED (Required) + Bachelors' Degree in Photographic Sciences, Imaging, Life SciencesEquivalent Experience OR 1+ years 1 year or more of work experience in ophthalmic imaging (Preferred) **Skills and Abilities:** + Strong attention to detail. + Comfortable with direct patient care and testing. + Respectful and compassionate attitude. + Aptitude to grow within organization through skill enhancement and embracing emerging technology. + Excellent computer skills; proficient in data entry and proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential. + Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to varying audiences throughout the institution and internationally. + Ability to develop relationships and rapport with patients, physicians, and varying audiences. + Provide exceptional patient service. + Able to maintain confidentiality and follow all guidelines for documentation. + Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate various activities including patient testing according to schedule. + Ability to work with compassion with visually impaired, deaf-blind and multi-disabled patients is essential. + Strong ability to work independently, and as part of a team. + Familiarity with ophthalmic imaging equipment, EMR, and PACS. + Perform corneal topography. + Perform OCT (optical coherence tomography). + Perform fundus photography. + Perform external eye photography. + Perform visual field exams. + Perform angiography - Preferred + Perform IOL (intraocular lens) master calculations - Preferred + Perform ultrasounds, including standardized and/or diagnostic A-scan, B-scan, UBM (ultrasound biomicroscopy) - Preferred + Perform phlebotomy and IV insertion as directed by the provider.
